Absolutely DISGUSTING service at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital — the worst hospital I’ve ever seen in my life! My wife was taken in by ambulance seriously sick, barely able to stand — we arrived at 1:20pm and it’s now 8pm and still not a single doctor or nurse has come to check her or even offer a basic assessment.

How can you leave a patient suffering for over 7 hours with no updates, no care, not even a glass of water? Staff walking around like they couldn’t care less, laughing and chatting like it’s a social club while people are in pain and crying out for help. Absolutely heartless and disgraceful behaviour!

Patients are treated like they don’t matter — left to sit there like they’re invisible. The whole system is a shambles and the staff need retraining on how to treat people with basic dignity and respect. People come to hospital for help, not to be left to suffer for hours without even being acknowledged!

This place needs investigating because it’s clear they don’t care about people’s lives. If you’re not dying on the floor, you’re left to rot away with no updates whatsoever.

I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this hospital. Absolutely shameful service — I will be reporting this to the NHS board and taking this complaint as far as possible!

Good experience. Went with my son who had a dislocated shoulder. Total time from entry to exit was two hours. Check-in, reception, examination, x-Ray, relocation and x-Ray again. Open space and breathable waiting area. Needs more signage and maybe mini maps around the hospital as it is large. Most of the signs are hand written on a A4 paper.
Could help with a bit of reorganisation.
Overall good experience.

I recently had a terrible experience at the new Metropolitan Hospital. My sister waited an astonishing 10 hours in A&E before being seen, and the wait time is absolutely disgusting. After finally being seen, it took hours to get any proper attention. The staff were rude and seemed completely overwhelmed; it felt like they had no idea what they were doing.

While the building looks impressive from the outside, the inside experience is a different story. The hospital feels more like a prison than a place for healing. The night receptionist in A&E was very rude. I explained that my sister has been waiting for hours and hadn't been called, and her response was, "Yeah, I told you the wait is long," while she just carried on typing on her computer. It was incredibly frustrating, especially with my sister in agony. It was a truly upsetting experience.

I’ve never felt so terrified in a hospital.
The receptionist are so unprofessional at the a&e. They are shouting patient names from a booth while you are trying to register. The person dealing with you is unable to get details due to this. The nurses come out of rooms and shout patient names.
There are security guards indoors standing around.
There is no order in this a&e. No patient should be treated like this.

For anyone unfortunate enough to lose a
loved one at the new hospital this is the
waiting area for what used to be called
the chapel of rest, now referred to as the
viewing room' adding insult to
heartbreak. We spent almost 24 anxiety
filled hours attempting to negotiate our
way around the place, along with
overworked, overwhelmed staff who
were trying their best to care for critically ill
patients and desperate relatives !! Also, who in their right mind thought that putting reception on the 5th floor was a good idea ?

Appaling experience my 93 year old father who suffers with dementia was admitted 7th October 14 hours before he was given any pain relief for a twisted bowl. Spent five days in the place before returning back to his nursing home the staff have zero experience dealing with dementia patients. They kept inaccurate records of his food intake saying he had eaten a full meal when it was barely two teaspoons full. They administered drugs for blood clotting you have during surgery he did not have surgery, he was to weak for this and staff on ward A8 constantly ignored my sisters request for help when he was very restless overnight. Do yourselves a favour if you have a choice of hospital go elsewhere.

I had an outstanding experience at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital recently. After sustaining a minor injury, I visited the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department, where I was immediately greeted by the reception staff. Their warm smiles and welcoming demeanor instantly put me at ease. They efficiently checked me in, making the process smooth and stress-free.

Once I was in the waiting area, the triage nurses called me in and assessed my situation. They were exceptionally kind and attentive, taking the time to listen to my concerns and answer any questions I had. Their professionalism, coupled with their friendly attitude, created a reassuring atmosphere that helped alleviate my anxiety.

Shortly after, I was seen by a nurse practitioner who left a lasting impression on me. She was not only knowledgeable but also exuded a sense of empathy and compassion. She took the time to thoroughly examine my injury, explaining each step of the process with clarity. Her gentle approach and genuine concern for my wellbeing made a significant difference in my experience. Overall, the care I received at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital was exemplary, and I truly appreciated the dedication of the staff at this hospital.

My husband went to this hospital as a day patient. His operation was straightforward. He was taken to ward 8 room 10.. "Hello, my name is Mary and I'm here to look after you" said the very friendly nurse. His room was clean with his own shower and toilet. He was very impressed with the service received. The waiting area on 5th floor is amazing. Here you have a coffee shop, food shops and a restaurant. It is a huge area and very industrial. You can relax here and when your fed up with sitting, take a walk around. In better weather you can sit outside too. There are so many helpers to direct you to your destination so your not confused on where to go. In our opinion a Good hospital which can only improve.
