Found an injured pheasant and kept it in my bathroom over night as it was very lively and deserved a chance to live.
It ate oats from my hand and was fine apart from a badly broken leg, it was trotting around my shower on one leg drinking and eating.
I made the journey to the sanctuary the next morning as directed and they took the pheasant, a horrible little woman then proceeded to tell me "pheasants are useless, stupid and helpless in the wild" and that it will be killed.
I asked why and she said there's nothing she can do, I pointed out that an amputation was needed and she agreed an amputation would solve the birds problems but stated she couldn't take it in so it had to be killed.
I advised I'd be happy to pay for vet care and keep on my land but she refused and said they shouldn't be kept as a "pet"
I pointed out she had already stated they were "useless" in the wild and that my land would be the best place for it.
She agreed but then said there was nowhere for it to live so it would be killed.
I've rehabbed a bat, bird's and all of my animals are rescues but the lady said she was killing it nonetheless.
Told her I wish I'd never bloody brought it in and she said I couldn't have it back so I had to leave.
Will be reporting as I really think sanctuary is a bit of a stretch for a place that refuses to let a bird live at all costs and speaks about a species of bird as if it's worthless.

The wonderful people at the hospital took in the little hedgehog we found wandering around the road at lunchtime. They immediately started rehydrating him. We now wait to see if he recovers. ?

Wonderful reserve and rescue. Always there for the animals. Have taken many rescues over the years.
Note.. Pls always donate to them.

So much better than Rspca and some local so called animal rescues that seem selective and have actually turned us away.

The hospital does a great job caring for a wide variety of creatures. Every animal or bird gets a second chance. It is run totally on donations and I'm sure support would be appreciated.

Really helpful caring place to take any animal or bird, everything is given a chance to live, l leave a donation with all the pigeons l take an know they are in safe hands. Thank you all the staff.

I took an injured pigeon chick there a couple of weeks ago having tried to look after it myself for a day or two. The work they do at Lower Moss Wood to help wildlife is phenomenal. Lovely surroundings and wonderful staff. Please donate generously if you go there. I did and it's worth every penny. Our wildlife is under threat. We need to do everything we can to look after it.

Took an injured owl in today (recently fledged) that I found on its back in the middle of the road in my village last night. Likely that he was hit by a car. He had a dislocated wing, concussion too, so fingers crossed he pulls through. Great he is receiving such wonderful support. Thanks so much to the LM team, so lucky to have you nearby.

Today I took a crow with no tail feathers and an injured wing. Wow what amazing people there are here.
Firstly a young man came to take the box with the bird in it. He handed it to a lady, he then took my details. The lady came and told me about the state of health of the Crow. She explained that it would eventually grow back his tail feathers and with care and attention would recover.
What lovely people they were nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately I only had £5:00 on me to donate, but I will return and donate further.
Thank you so much for doing what you do!! It gave me peace of mind that the Crow now will have a good chance at life.
