I had a horrendous experience at this hospital I was put on ward 7 after 22 hours in A&E and harassed by a nasty Ward Assistant, because I said I felt isolated. Nobody spoke English elderly confused women were crying out, 1 person in a side word obviously distressed banging on the door shouting “ let me out “
The nasty ward assistant continued to harass me trying to say I was a raciest . ( she was black)
She even refused to open the door to let my husband pass me some ice for my water as I had not eaten and only had tepid water for 2 days. The hospital still employ her.
I discharged myself after 29 hours with a carrier bag of medication as feeling to unsafe.to stay. I got home 30 hours after leaving home still standing in the same clothes I left in.
My husband was in A&E for 5 days a few months ago with a severe infection & internal haemorrhage. ( he was recovering from major brain surgery at QMS after a serious bleed on the brain)! He was in a side room with another very unwell man : there were dunk women in recliner chairs outside their bay room in A&E inviting their friends in all night shouting, laughing and just there to be warm and free food. A security man had to sit outside my husband’s room 24 hours a day.
A close friend arrived at 4am this morning. Chest pains and unwell 72 years old surrounded by drunks and people handcuffed to police officers. And if you are given a bed in a bay awaiting an allocation to a ward. The staff talk, laugh and carry on like it’s the middle of the day even at 3 in the morning.
The most unsafe dangerous place for the sick and vulnerable in the country. Don’t even try to go to PALS the UHL PALS are the biggest joke in the UK. Another Friend was in A&E went home after 24 hours with head lice! An absolute disgrace of a hospital. No leadership, no strong security and protection for real unwell people and staff with chips on their shoulders. Sad very sad and it’s not about money.

I have scheduled a double vision examination for Tuesday. Upon early arrival at the eye casualty, I inquired about the testing location; however, the receptionist escorted me from the premises, locked the building, and refused assistance until opening time. My one-star rating reflects solely this unacceptable staff interaction and does not reflect my opinion of the clinic's other services. Negative reviews frequently stem from inadequate staff performance.

Wow, saved my life, what more can I say but oh-my-word, what a place.!
When I was full of pain and confused when I tried to escape (3rd Dec) but luckily the experienced EPO (11 stars) and Security staff knew just what to do. When calm and collected was what was needed they were there. I will send a box of chocolates when I am back out and about.
Ward 21, excellent care, explaining every medication and putting up with me in general, 10 stars All aunties and uncles.

Wish I gave a better account of myself but what can I say

The security guards intimidate good people and seem nervous around trouble makers. I've seen them back off from drunks who are hurling bottles around A&E but woebetide if an 80 year old.
dares to stand in the wrong part of the waiting area. ....they will suddenly develop big man game and think they are Chuck Norris

Other than this they sit there oblivious on their mobile phones

Having a new born baby should a time to celebrate but not at the LRI Maternity Ward 5. A particularly miserable and grumpy senior nurse who never smiled and looked for every opportunity to chastise anyone within the vicinity. I love the NHS but this organisation displays all that is wrong with it. New mothers need positive and caring staff not individuals who knock the confidence out of them.
