CAMHS are useless with outdated and dangerous views!
I use to go to CMAHS which was located in Knowle Clinic and if your child is recommended therapy with them, I would suggest otherwise.
When I first start having therapy with CAMHS they’re very happy to try and get you discharged, even if it’s obvious you’re struggling. (even though they have no clue what the problem could be) Even if you’re not safe to be in the community they don’t care how many times a patient will try to hurt themselves, they don’t care how many times a patient will be rushed to Emergency Services and when they’re caught all they say is: “have you tried drinking tea?” “Have you tried going for a walk?” And they say this to patients that are suicidal and are high risk. CAMHS never want to deal with anything and it shows because their inadequate attitudes rub off onto other patients, making them feel like they’re getting no help nor are they being listened to.
If a patient is there for Eating Difficulties (before a diagnosis) they’ve told me that I wasn’t skinny enough for any support.
By the time I was officially discharged on my 18th birthday, I ended up becoming more ill with more diagnosis’ and my physical health is now at risk.
