The doctors are brilliant, reception staff can be quite rude at times.
Appointments are so hard to come by you have to plan being sick around 3/4 weeks in advance. The reception staff normally tell you to phone in the morning for an emergency appointment but then tell you it's not an emergency so you can't have am appointment! - not sure on their logic on this one!
The communication between surgery and patients is very good, using email, phone and letters.
At the end of the day it is very much like a lot of other surgeries, it is too small for the community it serves.
There is a pharmacy on site - the pharmacy staff are kind and helpful.

Please enable users to opt for online services (e.g pharmacy 4U). With busy lives some individuals would find it far more convenient to use these type of alternative providers.

The current service is regularly slow, prescriptions not processed on time necessitating a further wait or a second trip. A more flexible approach would result in an improved service for all patients and possibly lessen the burden on the hard working pharmacy team.

I wish the surgery joined the electronic system of ordering and approving medication, i. e. Pharmacy2U). I have been using P2U for the past few years and had no problems; I recently joined the Ixworth GP and the surgery doesn't use the system; it approves electronically sent requests from Pharmacy2U by sending back a letter by post. It caused delays in getting life-saving medication for my elderly mother and I had to call 111 for emergency supply. This would spare us time waiting for the phone to be picked up and save the surgery time too. It would be so much easier for patients who work full time.
Please also consider joining askmyGP - a life and time saver as you can explain your problem and the dr can contact you by phone - no need to visit the surgery if it's something minor.
I also feel that the pharmacy doesn't protect my personal details. There's a table immediately in front of the window where you talk to the pharmacist, meaning you're at least a meter away from it and need to loudly confirm your name, address and the DoB so everyone in the waiting room can hear you.
I haven't met any of the doctors or nurses at Ixworth yet, therefore my review relates to the services only.

Usually I have no complaints about this surgery but today was different. The GP was AMAZING however another staff member left me feeling quite upset by the way I was spoken to. Hopefully it was a “one off” and won’t happen again. 5 star service usually. 2 stars for today’s experience (no fault of the GP).

The staff are polite, especially the reception and pharmacy staff who are also efficient, and competent. The nurse practitioners are also great as are the other auxiliary medical staff like the fantastic physiotherapist.

Sadly, the physicians are next to useless at the moment whenever there's a serious issue. So much so that whenever my wife and I have had a medical problem any greater than a cough or strained knee, the response has been "go to A&E". Not good enough.
