An amazing place to train and an excellent sport to get into! There is a mix of levels in the club which means every session you learn something new.

I attend fairly regularly and always leave with better fitness, knowledge of a new technique and a smile.

Jack is a great teacher and brings such a positive atmosphere to the room. It's a great joy to see someone clearly so passionate about the sport and willing to invest heavily into it.

Cannot recommend it enough! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I joined Hook Bjj at the beginning of August and haven't looked back since. Having originally contacted Jack about joining when the club originally opened I let anxiety get the better of me and didn't turn up. Following Jack reaching out to me he re-assured me and I went along for my first session. When I arrived Jack and all the other members where all really welcoming and made me instantly feel more comfortable. Jack's a great coach, his lessons are always enjoyable and cater to all abilities. Having joined Hook BJJ not only has my fitness drastically improved but I feel more confident. To anyone interested in trying Jiu Jitsu i couldnt recommended it more. The hardest bit was turning up.

Jack is an awesome coach, and Grappling is an awesome sport so put the two together and this was always going to be a win.

Hook Grappling is using a strategy for learning that will allow all participants develop together rapidly, from someone on their first session, to people who have trained for over ten years. The style used (Constraints Lead Approach) means that you will learn the principles of the sport through short live drills throughout the class rather than usual system of having large chunks of information delivered that you need to process (something that can be confusing and overwhelming for new students). This approach means that through the session you will be active for a good 90% of the time, getting that real experience of the skills right away.

The team are super welcoming and the location is perfect. Overall this is the place to go if you are starting your Grappling journey or even if you are some way through your journey and in need of a fresh approach.

The classes have a great energy, there are no β€œegos” and the drills and sparring sessions are all very safe and enjoyable.

Massively recommend.

I have been training jiu jitsu for 6 years, 5 of those alongside Jack. Through out that time he was a great team mate always taking the time to explain techniques and give constructive criticism where needed. From time to time he’d also remind you of how insignificant you are and that he could smash you like a bug if he wished. Which is fair enough, sometimes you need a reality check as a whitebelt. This past year I have been training at HookBjj where Jack is now my instructor. Jack has created a great environment to train Jiu Jitsu, there are no egos or bad vibes at this gym. Just people wanting to train hard and gave a laugh whilst doing it. Jack teaches Jiu Jitsu using the gamified method which enables you to quickly develop a solid principle based Jiu Jitsu game, aswell as a decent gas tank. The gym is still very young and I have watched some day ones turn in to absolute handfuls in the past year under Jacks teaching. If you’ve ever wanted to try Jiu Jitsu I’d strongly advise dropping Jack a message and giving it a go. It will improve your confidence, your fitness, your self esteem and everything in-between.

Been training with Jack for around 2 and a half months and it’s completely transformed my fitness & mindset.

His coaching is incredible and along with that the group is friendly and welcoming.

Would 100% recommend anyone to start training with Jack who is interested in martial arts or getting fit in general.
