Recently transferred to Hive from SimplyHealth for a medical cash plan. Much better entitlements. Joining is a bit clunky as you need to fill a form in, but otherwise no issues at all. The Claims portal is very simple to use and monies are reimbursed quickly.

LIFESTYLE PROTECTION PLANS...via APRIL UK....If you have one you need to check it....These so say long term policies are / have been dramatically changed, and yes in the favour of April UK.......Substanital increase in monthly premium and changes to the original policy terms ..yes in their favour........When sold was not told that any time in the future the policy would so dramatically change, due to "claims & admin costs"
Would not recommend this company for long or short term insurance !!!

We had private health cover last year with April, and had one claim which was refused. Our son had had a small growth when he was 19, at 42, some 23 years later without any further consultations, it had grown and was causing discomfort. It was recommended to be removed. April refused the claim. It will be referred to the ombudsman. Never has any other health insurance provider refused a claim of ours, in over 20 years, so long as it was not an on going problem. So I advise taking care with this insurer even though they no longer offer health cover, who knows what they will pay out for, or maybe not!

I had a heart attack in March so invoked my income protection insurance which I'd paid into since February 2008. Now 5 months later I am still waiting: my medical records were lost by the insurer & we have re-submitted the required information over and over again. The phone lines have been on a message loop & there is just one excuse after another. After 5 months with no income & with 3 credit cards up to their limit, we have now gone to the ombudsman as all our calls to the insurers have fallen on deaf ears. caution all thee who embark on a journey with this company .

Really slow have to keep chasing them to get my med records from my GP and every time I hear a new story. Very slow and un cooperative and mismanaged. Have to wait at least 20 mins to get through to anyone in claims. AVOID. Reassured Insurance brokers suggested this co and I regret it every single day!

I contacted them to make a claim back in Jan I had a back in the post I filled it in all sorted I never heard anything for weeks I was calling them and email them no response 8 weeks later I have a text message asking for more information.i messaged back in the same number no response again. I gave up in the end and cancelled the policy a waste of money all the years I have been paying out
