RIP OFF MERCHANTS!

Used hirds for a few years now never had any issues with the care, but the prices are extortionate. Just come back from a 9am appointment my pet was in with the vets for all of 2 minutes and all the vet checked was a couple of marks from a previous appointment nothing else and they tried charging me £37 for a consultation when I already paid £98 just over 2 weeks ago the prices are a joke no solution offered at the counter either was just told that’s how it is. Wouldn’t mind paying for a consultation if it was a full check of my pet but it wasn’t! Will never go back!

I run an animal sanctuary and we use Hirds for all animals on our site (350 very different animals from dogs, cats, guinepigs to horses, pigs, goats, sheep and geese) Hirds run a fantastic service, always service with a smile and no job is too big!

I found them very caring when I had to have my poor Tia, a loving Staffordshire terrier put to sleep . They were so kind and gentle with her

These guys are amazing. My dog and I were attacked recently and they made room in their schedule for an emergency appointment. The vet on call knew exactly what they were doing and after inspecting her wounds said she needed to be referred to their larger practice. By the time I had got there they were expecting me and accepted my pup strait away. Minor operation later she's now back to herself Thank you guys!

Our dog suddenly fell ill, and without going into detail, was massively let down by our regular vet. Desperate for help, I rang Hird & Partners who gave me some advice and then after several back-and-forth phone calls with his usual vet (to no avail), saw him the same night, treated him, and saw him several times within a couple of months before eventually being put to sleep. They were compassionate and helpful throughout and the vets and reception staff really seemed to genuinely care. The only regret I have is not bringing our dog here from the beginning. I cannot thank Hird & Partners enough for buying us the extra time with our beloved family pet - thank you all!
Update: today we received a sympathy card from the vets - a very nice, and appreciated, touch!

Always a great experience. I've been going to hirds for at least 25 years and my parents went there for a good amount of time. I've been through tough times with my pets but they are always caring and compassionate. Whenever I have needed an appointment there is always one available.

I am genuinely very annoyed!
I took my cat in for his jabs, and was booked back in for a follow up. It’s worth noting, the vet dictates the time frame for return, as determined by the inoculations effective parameters. Duly, I booked a return for the time and date offered to me.

My cat pathologically hates being locked in, it stresses him out. He comes home when he wants feeding and maybe a quick fuss, other than that he’s on his own schedule; beholden to non.

On the day of the return appointment, he came home earlier than expected. And I closed his cat flap; he cannot abide by this, he yowls, starts running around and generally works himself up. It’s not nice for him and it’s not nice to see.
I called the vets at 8.24am asking for an earlier appointment as I’d managed to limit his liberty, kindly they accommodated this, wonderful!
He hates being locked in a house, he doesn’t love his cat carrier either.
On arrival I was told we were early…
They had tried to contact me…
I ‘was a week early’…

How? Why? When? What?

An appointment was booked as per the vets instruction, how could I be early?
Why had this not been looked at before? I had called earlier that day, a perfect point to intervene. How did the vet not know this? It’s quite worrying…
When? I got a missed call 9 minutes before the appointment. Driving to the practice takes longer than that, it’s not an acceptable amount of time given I had rearranged other responsibilities to attend an appoint scheduled for a fortnight.
What can they do about it?
‘Nothing, but apologise’

You’ve been great in the past, but this is shambolic; there were so many opportunities to put this right before inconveniencing me and stressing my cat out, not to do it all again next week. All at my time, money and effort.
I am so angry!
