Having recently moved to the local area and today needing help with our 18 year old cat as she was quite poorly. I called to register with Highcroft. The lovely reception staff took my call and were so helpful, arranged an appointment straight away for later in the morning. We met Mark the vet who listened to her history, treated her with patience and compassion. She is now in her favourite place sleeping peacefully and happily looking like her old self.
Looking after our beloved pets
when their illness had us worried is not an inexpensive experience but the way our adored pussycat was looked after was worth every penny.
Highly recommended practice and staff and thank you to all.

When can’t they follow simple instructions Every 28 days I have to get a written prescription for my dogs meds, every 28 days I have the same conversation….that not only the number 90 needs to be entered in numeric, but also the word ninety in the amount to be prescribed. Every 28 days I have the same conversation with receptionist to make sure this happens. Well why I’m not surprised that I went to get the prescription today….and yes you’ve guessed it completely wrong. It’s really not hard or I’m I not SPEAKING PLAIN ENGLISH. Can’t wait until Monday to see what excuse the practice Manager gives me this time. FOR GOD SAKE get it right!!!!!!

The vet was excellent, very calm and caring and gave the animals a thorough examination. He did not discuss the costs with us for the annual vaccination and a wormer.
We were the presented with a bill for £260!
We have found the costs at this practice have significantly increased since being taken over. It is a shame as we have been there for the past 30 years and they have always been excellent.
As we have 5 pets it is becoming too expensive to stay with Highcroft so we shall be looking to move to less expensive practice.

Extremely poor experience

Multiple miscommunications with both vets and reception staff. Some examples being that prescriptions are ready and when I turn up they are not. Vet saying they gave advice when they didn't. Diagnosis of illness being missed resulting in delayed care. Moved vets and problem solved very quickly. Highcroft was a terrible experience and would highly recommend others find a different vet.

AVOID AT ALL COST.

Extremely poor communication.
Notes made on their internal system that were not communicated to us. This lead to a delay in treatment for a bacterial infection in a puppy. We had to chase them for information, and medication.

Paid for a pet care plan, then told the products for flea and worming would be posted out by 3rd party company. This did not happen.

Ordered medication, went in to the practice to collect medication, only to be told it was not due. Received a text message from them on the same day to say the same medication was over due. Called the recipients to clarify this, was told to collect the medication later that day, went back to collect only to be told it wasn't ready.

Asked to speak to the vet, they were busy with an emergency, asked to speak to the manager, they were busy in a meeting. Conviently the same the next day, and the following day.

Willing to take your money, not transparent with their products or services. Willing to see you for a appointment but not capable of following up on it.

Reception staff were polite, but their abilty to provide a functional service was clearly bound by the bureaucracy of a broken company.

I have been with Highcroft for many many years. However, my experience with them yesterday when I had to have my mums put to sleep has changed my opinion
This is difficult to write this review as the reception staff and vet staff were very good. Especially the reception staff. My mum’s dog was treated well. Certainly can’t complain about that.
However, it has become apparent that money is the motivation here. Having to pay an extortionate amount of money to have him put to sleep and cremated up front. My mum couldn’t have done that but that was cheaper than the six grand. Yes six grand they had quoted to have him over the weekend and get a specialist in. He was very ill. And this difficult decision was not taken lightly. I would have paid it if we felt it would have benefited my mums dog.
I had my dog put to sleep about two years ago. Exactly the same service but at a third of what I paid yesterday. I am moving vets as the result of this week. A long standing customer gone.
