I recently spent 2 weeks at Hamble Heights recovering from major surgery. The care I received was wonderful . Care and nursing staff are unfailingly kind and considerate. It was so relaxing not to have to think about meal prep or shopping or any of the normal responsibilities of home. As it turned out I was less in need of intensive nursing support than I had expected, so I was able to enjoy a relaxing time without stress, but with help on hand if needed.
I would recommend Hamble heights for recuperative care for older adults . I don’t think many people know you can book into a nursing home for 2 weeks recuperative care … but it can make all the difference , and probably means a faster and stronger recovery once home

I had the pleasure of attending a Harvest Festival celebration at Hamble Heights with my father in law. What a wonderful time we had. It was obvious from the moment of our arrival that the residents are happy and well cared for as they were all nicely turned out and clean and tidy. In speaking to other residents sat with us at the table it was apparent that they enjoyed being at Hamble Heights. They spoke positively about their own experiences and how well they were cared for and most importantly how safe they felt at the home. The spread of food on offer was delightful and those at the table that needed help with eating were given that assistance with care and love. After the food there were some social activities which were fun for the residents and there was complete inclusion of the residents especially those that needed additional help or support to take part. The home was clean, tidy and the furnishings in keeping with expectations. Staff I spoke to were caring and loving to the residents again as one would expect. My overall impression of the Hamble Heights would most certainly place me in a position to recommend the home to anyone looking for a safe, clean, friendly, loving environment for a loved family member.

My husband has been living at Hamble Heights since June 2020 when he was transferred there via the hospitals social services team.
As it was lockdown I had no input in this decision but I can honestly I could not have chosen a better care home.

The staff and management teams are more like family now. I know i can pick up the phone (day or night) and someone will be there to listen .

My husband is only 64 and has parkinsons and dementia . There is always something going on to keep him entertained be it singers, bingo, arts and craft, exercises, themed parties.

His bedroom is large and clean and he has a huge ensuite shower room .

If i could give 10 stars to this home i would . It is simply the best x

Absolutely Awful !

Please think long and hard before placing a loved one here.

My Father was here for 20 months, initially it was good. But then there was a change of management/ownership. Most of the long serving staff quickly left. There were at least 4 changes of home manager in a matter of months. High staff turnover, High use of agency staff was a real issue.

My Father had to be safeguarded by social services for his own safety, the home missed his important medications on at least 3 occasions and he suffered numerous falls. There were other issues to long to list here.

Finally Dad was admitted to hospital as he became dehydrated having not had sufficient fluids over a weekend, he was extremely ill. He was in Hospital for 3 weeks thereafter we took the decision to move his care home, which was traumatic and very disruptive for an elderly vulnerable chap.

Dad was paying nearly Β£6,000 a month to be safeguarded !

The management didn't even apologise for everything that had happened to him, after I had to wait 3 months for a reply to my complaint.

His new care home are fantastic, he looks well cared for and hasn't fallen since. Quality care makes such a difference.

I now feel guilty that we didn't move him sooner, but Covid made this very difficult to do so.

PS I note one of the 5 Star Google reviews was from a former home manager when she was working there.

Please think twice before leaving anyone in this home. It was great in 2019 when we left my dad there (so the older reviews were right). However a new owner took over in 2020 ((just before Lockdown) and the care people received plummeted. Nicki (who wrote a review below) left, so did many other staff. There were more managers in the next year than my dad had drinks! Almost literally.....

My father's time critical medication was missed, there was no fluid chart and we couldn't visit, owing to Lockdown. My father ended up being taken to hospital with dehydration and the admitting consultant there was so shocked he refused to speak to the home.

If you think I am a complaining relative please, please check out the Echo double page spread from 8 July 2021 and CQC report. This home looks very good, but as we all know, it's the people which make a home and the people in this home, responsible for the care, are in short supply and led by a revolving management team with an owner who simply wants your money.
