This was the worst place I could have ever been. For a few days, I was depressed. Instead of receiving therapy, I was brought to this clinic where most people are extremely unwell. I wasn’t unwell enough to be here. I couldn’t feel safe here at all, couldn’t eat or drink, & when I asked to go out to buy some food, they wouldn’t let me go alone and made me leave with a guard! I have vitamin D & iron deficiencies, & while they gave me medications, they acted like they were providing comprehensive care without caring about my mental health. I had to call the police and others before they finally let me go outside. When I asked to leave, they mocked me and made sneering comments, saying, ‘She wants to go home.’ Most people here want to go home. I asked them to be reasonable and provide any mental tests needed to prove I’m well. I’m totally fine & don’t need to stay here. Unfortunately, they justify their behavior by claiming that people here are too unwell to understand what’s happening. It’s as if they believe they know what’s best for me, but their professionalism is lacking. I’m shocked that, for a temporary depression & crisis situation, I was forced to stay here! They are worsening my mental state.
I was supposed to go to a hospital where people would care for me and talk to me, not imprison me, lock the doors, and treat me like a dangerous criminal who can’t even go outside. It’s ridiculous that when I explained my condition to the doctor & told her that forcing me to stay here would trigger my traumas, she still didn’t understand & didn’t discharge me. My blood tests were normal, & I offered to take any mental and emotional tests needed to prove my well-being, but they ignored my requests. They only care about their policies, which do not consider individual conditions. It was the worst experience I could have ever had. It’s important to mention that some of the nurses here were very nice and friendly. They were kind to patients, hugging them and talking to them. For people who are very unwell, this might be a good place, but for those facing a temporary crisis and depression, it’s an awful place. I can’t stop crying while writing this; I am overwhelmed by how they kept me here for two days and how I wasn’t strong enough to prevent this unfair treatment. I filled out a complaint form and told them that if they continued to imprison me, I would sue them legally after getting out. It was the only strategy I could think of to get out, & it worked. Still, words can’t fully describe how I have suffered and been tortured here. I can’t forget.
