It appears that every time you are ill here, you need to know you will be ill approx 1 week in advance.
And now they have made things better by linking up with another practice, so bookings are via a portal..
So, eventually find booking section, fill details out... "your form will be viewed in 1 to 2 days" ..... WTF!!
"If urgent, please call to book".... Call up.... "you are caller 35 in the queue"...

Gods honest truth... i called another doctors (3rd in queue, 1 min wait time), asked if i could register, went online to NHS site, filled form out, sent it off, got confirmation from new doctors, got an appointment same day, and was still 10th in queue at Hackenthorpe!!

No wonder the population of Hackenthorpe is declining.

I will say, they did call me back... as i had changed my address, so they were calling me to tell me i wasn't in their catchment anymore for the appointment i placed online.
Whereas the other doctors catchment is S12, it appears this catchment is Main Street and Birley Spa Lane.. Past that, fend for yourself.

I wouldn't mind if i used the Doctors often, but i must have been 2x in the last 3 years. So i'm hardly blocking their appointments up.

Very pleased with the service this morning, filled an accurix form in around 8:30 for my nan and at 9o clock i recieved a call from a helpful member of staff to get her an appointment at owlthorpe surgery at 11:30👍🏻

Absolute nightmare to get appointment since merging can never get appointment and then told 3 week wait so having to use 111 and walk in service in town

Once again a poor service , not only is it near impossible to get through to the practice but if you are lucky enough to be successful then the service you require isn't completed by staff who are so quick to get you off the phone.
Tried to order my repeat prescription on line like I always do but a note on my record said I must speak to a practitioner to enable my prescription to be processed. I can't get a " telephone appointment " for a month WOW!!! So the receptionist said she would process and send it through to the pharmacy...... she didn't obviously too busy!!!!

Receptionist say that Doctors work certain days of the week, appears none work 5 days a week. Be nice to see same Dr, rather then different Drs , which causes issues with medical information, either not being on form, mixed up etc (which has been the case with me) Since merged lots of information been coming to me that’s not even related to. None of my information is even being looked at properly… the other practice don’t even know me for jacks! Really have gone down hill.

Since COVID l have found the practice to be improved l don't tend to see too many Doctors (what's new) but the Practise Nurses are fantastic so helpful and approachable with advice and guidance. And l know at times it can be difficult to contact surgery especially when busy but the Receptionists are always polite and efficient.
