My 5* Review of Gossops Green Medical Centre

I am seeing so many negative reviews of this place and there are hardly any 5 star reviews, so let me be the start. There was a time that this place was really bad, appointments were so hard to get, phones not answered. 5 years ago, I could not get an appointment for coughing fits and twice a doctors appointment was refused saying there is “lot of flu going around” and to take over the counter meditation. These coughing fits then resulted into serious injury, nerve damage, carotid artery dissection and blood clot. Happy to say that I have been healed of all this largely due to mindset, lifestyle changes.
Fast forward to today, it Is not often I have a need to contact surgery, but as and when it is needed I am given the appointments same day. Sometimes phones have been very busy so I request a call back and someone calls me within 10 minutes. The back office staff is so friendly, polite and courteous and so is the case with the doctors.

Remember they are humans and have stressful and challenging jobs. We often rush to moan and groan and blame everyone except ourselves. We blame the governments for “neglecting the NHS” but then each successive government has pumped in record amount of money into NHS, but the demand is increasing at a very fast rate! The people are becoming ill, largely due to poor lifestyle. Obesity is on increase, which then leads to diabetes, heart conditions, low immunity etc. If only people started to eat well, exercise, be happy then you would not need to visit the doctors!

I am impressed with the service which the Gossops green medical centre provides to the patients. Thank You!

Great GP practice, we had nothing but positive experiences, from booking an appointment, to seeing a nurse or a doctor. Everyone is very kind and professional. The reception staff are so lovely and kind, unlike some gp practices. We are very happy to have a gp where we feel happy and looked after. Thank you to all staff working at the practice.

The receptionists are completely useless. Incapable of sorting prescriptions on time, regularly leaving you without necessary medication. Repeatedly having to chase to get medication authorised. Have stated the wrong day for appointments. Appears this GP practice has employed the most incompetent people they could possibly find and put them at the front desk. Shame really as the doctors are very good.

Doctors cannot do SIMPLE maths always refuse important pain medications when due then when questioned told we will put request through again when patient has now run out due to doctor’s negligence! Receptionists did get alot better but unfortunately they are not very good again now promising to call you back twice and do not!

Gave me 30 day notice to find a new GP as was no longer in the catchment area. 22 days from receiving the letter, they wouldn't do my repeat prescription for critical medication as "I'm not registered there", and told me I couldn't make an appointment.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the GP service, here. Alright, I might not always be able to get an appointment, but the reception, nurses and doctors are very helpful.

Absolutely shocking! The staff and the practice manager have no care for patients! I had ongoing situation for my 8 year old daughter was trying to explain didn’t let me finish the other symptoms my daughter has had to the nurse she put the phone down on me. I then went into the surgery asking to speak the practice manager the receptionists said the practice manager does not want to speak to me. Of course at this point I have become very frustrated! Thank you for the help we didn’t get for my 8 year old daughter and for the practise manager who does not care for the patients. I was advised my the pharmacist to seek medical help from GP and I could not get this because no one at the surgery cares.

RUDEST GP EVER : DO NOT GO - imagine I tried booking to request for my information to pass onto a psychiatrist and they didn’t even give me a chance even to request for an email or any contact information before trying to rush me off and telling me to put the request in writing. I tried to express that I’m going through a hard time and that this conversation is difficult for me to have and that no one in this reception team has ever spoken to me kindly if they couldn’t get me off the phone fast enough and her response was “I understand that but put the request in writing and you may have to wait up to 4 weeks” no apology, no change in tone. And she didn’t even tell me that I couldn’t email until I’d asked her to slow down and give me a chance to ask questions. I’m usually understanding of overworked and under-appreciated staff but they all just seem straight up careless.

If any conversation comes longer than 2 mins they WILL try to brush you off…no matter what!
