Just picked my husband up for his visit at GE, what an amazing team of people! Very thankful for the care he received. The elliot has come a long way in the last few years.
They exceeded our expectations and I'm forever grateful for the treatment he has received!

I have recently had 2 acute admissions to George Elliott, the last resulting in a stay on Melly ward. From the paramedics, through A/E staff and up on the ward and in the imaging department all of the staff were absolutely brilliant; kind, caring and compassionate. There is bound to be a lot of waiting around on a trolley in A/E with the volume of patients being looked after but when you're poorly you don't really care what you are lying on. I was kept comfortable and medical staff ensured I was always getting enough pain relief. Hand over and communication between departments could be better but essentially the bottom line is that I was extremely well cared for. I arrived with nothing apart from a phone and my door key so was admitted with just what I was lying in. It was no trouble for a kind HCA to find me a toothbrush and toothpaste and a bar of soap. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for helping in my eventual recovery.
One suggestion I do have would be to have a couple of universal phone chargers on a department for overnight and admitted unaccompanied patients who need to stay in touch with family or friends.

On 8th November, I attended the George Elliot for day surgery on my face. The surgery was undertaken by Mr Rabey. I would like to thank him and his theatre team. They were extremely supportive, friendly and efficient. I found all of the staff in the day unit, helpful and friendly.

I went to accident and emergency today at 12 midday as I thought I had broken my nose as my dog accidently ran into my face . My nose was swollen and bleeding . I could not find anywhere to park but got to accident and emergency advices to have it looked at . It was very busy and waited over 4 hours to be told by the nurse that there is nothing they could do as they had no ENT specialist ! So I waited over 4 hours for this information . Me and my daughter were met by a very abrupt and rude young blonde receptionist who clerked me in . I am not sure why she could not have got me advice from the nurse in the beginning ?
My experience of your accident and emergency department was terrible rude receptionist no water or cups at the vending machine so poorly patients can get a drink ! Uncomfortable seats . Next time I need accident and emergency assistance I’ll drive to Coventry as it’s a better service

This must be the most disorganised hospital I have ever been to. Signage terrible. When I eventually found the car park there was no spaces. Eventually got one then then no signs as to whether I paid now of after so took a chance. Asked a staff member who said I’d probably get away with not parking as barrier normally not working.
Wanted A&E. Saw a sign sawing ‘Urgent Treatment Centre’. Took a chance again. Why not call it A&E line everywhere else.
It was packed in ‘A&E’ on a Thursday morning. Had to wait two hours.
Anyway TBF nurses and doctor were excellent. Just sack the ‘utilities team’.

Partner was admitted to A&E with pancreatitis and sepsis in April 2024 where she was diagnosed with gall stones. She was told she needed emergency gall stone surgery and that she would be booked in as a matter of urgency.. we’ve now been waiting for emergency gall stone surgery since April 2024 - George Eliot has admitted that no one filled out the paperwork so we are still waiting almost 7 months on!!! We called a few months ago & was told that she would have an emergency MRI appointment requested to double check everything before they finally booked the op… called today & there’s been no MRI or appointment requested. Medical negligence

I've been trying to find out what's happening with my father who was taken to A&E by ambulance at 10.00. It's now 21.47 and still non the wiser. On hold for over an hour and asked to call back, then on hold for an hour and a half to be asked to call back again and now on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes and still waiting.
The last time he went into hospital two years ago they lost him. As he has dementia the police were called to help find him. After searching the streets for over two hours with cars and a helicopter he was found on a ward in the hospital. Typical of NHS service.
Update at 22.10 hes been in hospital for twelve hours and cannot find out what's happening to him. Got cut off so ringing again and waiting.

Currently here at George Elliot and I just want to say, all the nurses and doctors have been amazing even the porter was so kind, offering blankets and drinks. The nurse looking after me is called Dandy and she is such a star! Honestly I cannot thank you enough. I came in with such a sensitive issue and she was so kind so helpful! Nothing was too much. Everywhere she turned she was needed and she remained professional and so so kind. Thank you Dandy. If only the world was full of Dandy’s it would be such a better place. You are a credit to the NHS X
