Please use an alternative service that provides firearms medical certs.
Once they take your money they drag the process on unnecessarily, and it becomes a very stressful and confused process indeed.
They mislead you into thinking the process is delayed by the doctors side however they tell the doctors to send medical details over to different email addresses that don't exist.
The turn around can be longer than 72 hours, I'm not sure why they put this as a benefit on the website they would be better giving a more realistic turnaround time.
The doctors used are NHS doctors who do this in their spare time for cash but this means they are not dedicated to the service and can cause delays.
Email communication was very poor, i would have missed the deadline for my application renewal if it wasn’t for constant badgering and chasing.
The phone number rings and no-one ever picks up, an automated message is given informing there is high call volume and rings exactly the same amount of times before going to voicemail, which no-one monitors or responds to.
Their website only includes the positive reviews from google so hopefully no-one else gets pulled in by their professional website, and hopefully you read ALL the google reviews before making the decision to instruct.
I really wanted this to be a positive experience but sadly it was not. The only reason i used these was because my doctors surgery stopped providing the service therefore had no choice and they came up first on google search. Very dissapointed

I have no idea where the other reviews are coming from, avoid at all costs! I waited over 5 months for a response and when I received my medical records the complete records were not checked and my application rejected.

During this time and over a period of several months I called in excess of 20 times leaving voice mail messages and sending emails which remain unansweredto this day.

I went to the effort of checking with Companies House as was unsure if this company was real or not, such was my frustration!

Good luck if you decide to risk using! My application remains unresolved!

Overall a good service which I would recommend. I believe the delays were mostly down to the ridiculous time it takes for GP’s to respond! Once Firearms Medical (FM) had my medical records, the report which gets sent to the police was good.
Constructively, I would suggest FM either employ more staff or introduce better systems to respond to customers as you can’t get through on the phone and general emails take time for a response unless you are in a dialogue with someone.
I would however use them again.

I would have loved to have given a 5* review, because every time I managed to speak / get an email response from FirearmsMedicals, they were great! Getting my Medical Report took ages and was not straightforward - I suspect this was the fault of my GP practice, but cannot be certain. What I am certain of is that FirearmsMedicals have a dreadful communications set up! Getting them to answer the phone is virtually impossible, getting them to respond to emails is almost as bad, but completely hit & miss. When they do respond, they are very knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. Good communication would have made this a faultless 5* experience! Being prepared to be persistent & patient kind of defeats the object of appointing an agent to deal on one's behalf! Don't take this personally Elliot - you were great! XXJ

From start to finish the service offered by Firearms Medical has been woeful. The fact that I cannot give zero stars pains me greatly.

You are kept in the dark about how your application is progressing once you've paid your application fees, and they blame a lack of progress on your GP surgery not providing your medical records, which I know was not the issue.

Email communication is appalling and generally ignored unless you really pester the life out of them. They may as well not list a phone number, as it is clearly connected to nothing. I have called in excess of 30 times and left numerous voicemails without response.

They claim on their website that they can turn around an application within 72 hours once they receive your medical records, this sadly is not the case. They use NHS Doctors who work full time for a living at NHS Hospitals/GP Practices and clearly do these medical reports as a side hustle, therefore prolonging the process entirely.

if you value your firearms and want to ensure your renewal paperwork is submitted within good time, may I strongly suggest you use one of the alternative companies who offer this service

Don’t waste your money.

Application submitted 2nd December and still chasing.

Several calls made, no answer, are the phone lines even connected?

Only one email response after I chased them.

On Octber 15th 2024 I paid £75 to these people. They said they would request my surgery medical records and forward them to me and the Police to support my Firearms Certificate renewal. On 13th December they emailed to say they had no record of a response from my surgery. On 20th December I was in the surgery and checked with them to be told they had had no request for my records. Since then I have telephoned Firearms Medical 8 times only to be told that they are too busy to answer. I asumed they were closed for Xmas but today they are still "experiencing high call volumes". So, I am demanding a refund unless they can evidence requesting my records. But so far I have been unable to contact them. PS, you can get your records FOC via a subject access request, but they don't tell you that.
