Beautiful place to swim, but disappointed lifeguard decided to cut my swim short.
Having booked an hour (£9), and agreed 30 minutes would probably be enough, I didn’t appreciate being told to do a half lap after only 20 minutes. Why? No reason given. No-one else was swimming. Who knows. I was in neoprene and would’ve been fine to finish, and would’ve loved to enjoy the peace of a complete lap rather than feeing rushed to get out way before time. Feel very short changed.

First of all, I was really glad to come to that beautiful place with my husband. But I instantly regretted it when I was not allowed to stay while my husband was swimming. "No spectator are allowed". Spectator of what ? Of other people ? Are you kidding me ? I don't even see without glasses ! I came to support my husband, in one of his favorite activity and I was not allowed to do so. We were shocked about that policy. I wonder who made that nonsense policy. It was the very first time we have ever experienced that. We will never come back and not recommand this place. Anyways, there are other places in England and around the world more beautiful than this (and also : free!).

Such a wonderful experience like having a mini holiday. What three words directed us there with no problems. It was all clearly signposted.A very friendly lifeguard Jackie, explained everything, as it was our first swim there. Such a magical setting against the stunning backdrop of Castle Ashby. No reeds brushing against my legs, always a bonus! 😆 Will definitely be back when the cafe is open. A peaceful place. Just wish I lived closer!

Attended for the first time recently and can confirm other positive comments, great place for open water swimming, I just wanted to get some distance training in without all the turns of a pool, but they are flexible with different needs.
Will definitely return.

Wonderful place to start your open water swimming journey. Lifeguards very knowledgeable, the water is very clean and there's a nice marquee to change in.
There's also a quaint little coffee and cake place, but is only mostly open weekends.

Very good place for those new to open water swimming and those more experienced. The lake is clean and shallow round the edge and deep in the middle. There is a lifeguard, also there to give advice and a marquee to change in. The deck and steps make it easy to get in.
