My wife was diagnosed with schizophrenia over 4 years ago. It took nearly 6 months when she had psychosis to find a bed in this hospital. I was told this was due to bed availability. At end of her hospital stay I got call from social worker who said that my wife is ok and can come back work. She did not worked for last 6 years due to her symptoms. 7 months later after her second hospitalization in this hospital she is back to another hospital due to worsening symptoms. Generally staff is nice and helpfull. No problems with visits.

i waa under section here in 2018. the hospital has a lot of problems which are related to funding. i didn't meet any abusive staff there, they were nice and many were very helpful, but the stress they were under was palpable and patients could not possibly get enough of their attention.

the reason for the four star review is the Occupational Therapy department. it was an oasis of calm, the OTs were fantastic and always there to talk me through things if i sought them out. the activities they had to do were wonderful and gave patients purpose if they chose it. the OTs would have a way of helping us identify problems we had through the activities, getting us to talk about them without feeling pressured to. the OT garden is heavenly and it would be a disaster for that department to lose a single penny of funding. it saves lives.

This place should be shut down it is a horror circus run by full time clowns and agency Muppets, that lie , can't read notes, nobody is singing off the same song sheet!!! Would not trust these Muppets to look after my dog!! Let alone a loved one.!!!

This facility needs improvement. The staff were wonderful, the environment was wonderful but risk management was not. You DO NOT keep China cups for patients in such a facility as they can be smashed and cause serious harm. Also, only 1 visitors room which meant I had to meet my relative in reception and the main doors were not secure. Anyone could simply slip out and disappear.

Communication is key.. recently i have asked a few questions and the response I have from management on reception was Rude, and they should not be treating people like this as they should no better working for mental health patients.. they don't communicate and don't no half of what they should.
This puts the rest of team down that are genuinely their to work towards helping patients and their family throigh a hard time.
It's states in their policy, "Quote" you as their carer will be informed of the process, the rights of the patient, and support available to them.
Further information will be provided by staff as required.
So why is it none of this is reflected in certain staff members if this is a policy and within the law 🤔 this needs to be looked at and fixed ASAP.
Under the care act 2014, local authorities have a legal duty to provide cares with a carer assessment. I have not been provided with any assessments in 2 months nearly, and as a carer myself I feel this is unacceptable for a place that deals with mental health.
The stress of the work place should not effect your behavior towards anyone.. period.

I made a phone call to elmleigh hospital stating to them that my daughter has told me how she wants to die and what she will do to make that happen I told a member of staff that she needs to tell the doctor because the doctor was on his way to see my daughter we don't no if the message was passed on I was also told I would get a call off the doctor but that never happened my daughter got discharged the next morning to cut a long story short the night after she was discharged she went to a bridge early hours of the morning to commit suicide she is now in the hospital with a broken back open fracture on her foot also broken and a broken leg I feel if I was listened to or my daughter was listened to this could have been prevented. Thankyou elmleigh hospital thankyou for doing nothing for my child now alot of the staff are amazing but the doctor that discharged her when she was begging for help the nurse who told me the doctor would call me when he never you could have prevented this.

We have called 3 times over the last 3 days to find out how our relative is, and each time we were promised a call back, and we are still waiting. As this is a mental health hospital, and support from family is paramount, it's appalling.
