People are quick to criticise the triage system, but aren't mentioning the fact that Halstead as a town is vastly over populated due to new builds and this is the ONLY local surgery in the town.

I've always managed to get a triage appointment when requested. The doctors are always friendly and responsive. I've always been given a referral or tests when requested. Can't fault them at this point.

People will have different experiences but you have to consider that Halstead doesn't have the infrastructure in place to cope with all the people and Elizabeth Courtauld are probably struggling to meet demand.

Booked appointment for 3 year old we suspect has conjunctivitis. Arrived with 3 year old and heavily pregnant partner at 10:20 to the car park. A staff member on break slowly wandered blocking our access. Joined the queue at 10:22 as the only check in screen was broken. As the queue was loooooong and they had 1 single person working the front desk my pregnant partner got to the receptionist at 10:25 to be told too late and to rub salt into the wound received a text saying you missed the appointment at 10:26. Also told the person we were to see had now taken a break instead. They then called shortly later to again say you missed the appointment and would've been called only once at the correct time of the appointment, that was your only chance and you will need to book another day. We had a friend in the waiting room with their children who said they never heard our 3 year old being called at 10:20 so when the receptionist said they were aware and you'd be called anyway were fibbing. There were numerous people called who hadn't attended their appointments so there were nurses or doctors that were available but they seem to take pleasure in telling you that you missed your only chance. Disgusting service

I can’t believe quite how bad the service is and the fact they think their new patient triage system works. 1) you can only send a form during times the surgery is open - why can’t I not send one at any other time it’s a computer? Computers accept forms 24/7. 2) how can they close the form half way through the day then not provide another way to contact the surgery. It’s like they think people can only be ill within 4hrs each day. This is symptomatic of a system designed for the benefit of the surgery not for the patients it serves. When I had to speak to 111 they actually laughed when I explained how the surgery’s system works.

Cannot fault this surgery. The new system is brilliant. Sent message Thursday with photo, appointment Saturday, the doctor was really nice and listened. Then appointment for consultant within 10 days! Can’t fault that - thank you

I have been with this practice 6yrs my health deteriorated and now disabled and home .
I broke my femur bone inleg went to hospital Broomfield which I found fault less, so with being bought home after weeks in hospital I rang doctors to see if a district nurse would be able to remove staples the assistant said she would find out. Two days later rang back spoke to same lady who informed me I wasn't on there books as being home based ,so here's me broken leg on oxygen and having carers in told I would not be able to have district nurse.
So changed doctors and they visited me at home to look at my leg and so changed best thing I have done . You never have to hang on phone for long normally next in qué can make a doctor's appointment to see wait for it a doctor well I'm made now

I recently moved to the area and was searching for a doctors surgery. In the past we have had mixed options. So when I saw 2 stars for this one and realised this was my only option in Halstead my heart dropped. But I am so pleased to report that I have had nothing but a good service so far from this surgery. My son has had to see a doctor twice and both times you use an online traige application form in the morning and within an hour tops of them opening he has a face to face appointment for that day. Both times he was seen on time/early. The doctor was so lovely. I honestly have no complaints. I think people are too quick to leave a bad review, but won't leave a good review enough on basic things like this and this then concerns many others without cause. I would have no doubt in recommending the surgery and am pleased we have a great surgery in our local community.

Rubbish doctors surgery the receptionists are ALL rude!
The doctors when they do speak to you come across as your taking up valuable time even speaking to them as well as ballsing up medication and also altering your medication without any prior consultation whatsoever and the nurses all seem quite frankly half trained so you get half a decent appointment and they are very quick to mess up medication and specimens left get thrown into a bin even if it’s all be asked of you or asked by you if it’s ok it’ll be thrown into the bin!
I was told I had irregular blood count by one person I’ve the phone and then told it was incorrect by another.
Also they wiped someone’s complete medical record and covered it up!
Very bad surgery and the fact it’s the only one available i that area is disgusting. Also there answer phone is even quite rude to patients!

The new traige system is in place purely so they can avoid speaking to you. They send a text to you saying speak to a pharmacist from a No reply number. They don't give you the opportunity to ask more questions or give more information. I am a medical professional myself and I know when I need to be seen. I have lost all hearing in one of my ears and I am showing signs of infection and they won't even look at it because I have an appointment at the hospital in November. They do everything they can to avoid seeing patients. Useless.
