I would definitely recommend Mr Arjuna Imbuldeniya to anyone seeking knee pain diagnosis and ultimately surgery. Explained everything clearly from start to finish and I'm delighted with the result post-surgery. Can't praise him enough. Thank you.

Having suffered with arthritis in both my hips for much of my adult life , I had got to the stage when I thought I would just "accept it and live with it". I am a 66 year old female and half decided it was not worth worrying about.
I was then at a drinks party in the summer and realised I was lucky if I could stand upright without pain for much more than 10 minutes. And I noticed I had begun to walk more slowly. I had also tried to take up squash again , but came off the court in pain.
So I went to see Mr Imbuldeniya in September (2023) and I can honestly say my life has already changed! He only wanted to do one hip at a time , so I chose the right one first , which had always been the more challenging one for me. ( I plan to have the second one done in the summer).
Whilst it is only 4.5 weeks after my operation (which happened just before Christmas) , the transformation is amazing. I would not even think I have a right hip now. I sleep so much better as I am not waking up in pain on the right side.
Mr Imbuldeniya was just amazing. He is a surgeon who makes you feel you are his only patient. He gives you all the time you need and has a superb team to support him - his PA - Dr Annie McKirdy - and his anaesthetist , as well as everyone at the Clementine Churchill hospital.
If you "Dr Google" about having a hip operation , you might end up worried - stories such as you must not bend past 90 degrees for 12 weeks and you cannot drive for 6 weeks etc , are just not relevant for the specific way Mr Imbuldeniya does his surgery.
I live alone and literally was cooking and cleaning from day 2 when I returned home after the operation. It was amazing. After 2 weeks I was walking in my home without crutches at all. And whilst I currently take 1 with me when I go outside , I do not use it , but just have it available in case there is any ice in this cold weather. I happily walked 14k steps today outside without crutches and also did my exercises (very important) on top of that.
Also normally I would have been able to start swimming again after 2 weeks , but because of Christmas, my follow-up appointment was slightly later than usual and so I had to be a little patient. But that was fine. There was plenty of other things I could do.
So I cannot recommend Mr Imbuldeniya more highly . I am so thrilled that I found him and am looking forward to getting back on the squash court and skiing (and I am even allowed to do breaststroke again!).

I had a hip replacement with Mr Imbuldeniya at The Clementine Churchill Hospital. He was very professional, on top of his game and explained everything really well. The operation has been a great success; seven weeks on, the joint is working really well - just a bit sore after exercise or when I sit still for too long. I have no hesitation in recommending this surgeon.

I had a total hip replacement performed by Mr Imbuldeniya in March 2018. Throughout the process from first consultation to final discharge, he took time and care to explain everything that was going on, the options available to me, pros and cons of the operation, how things had gone and so on. I found his approach to be excellent, both reassuring and professional throughout.

More importantly, the operation was a great success and I was back walking without crutches after 4 weeks and pretty much back to normal activity after 7 weeks, including short cycle rides and walking 4-5 kms at a time.

I would not hesitate to recommend My Imbuldeniya to anyone with hip or knee problems.

I have recently had minor knee surgery carried out by Mr Imbuldeniya and everyone concerned was brilliant.
Mr Imbuldeniya is very approachable and friendly, he explains what the problem may be and solutions very clearly. From Dr Annie McKirdy, The Syon Clinic to The Clementine Churchill all concerned were very efficient, I would not hesitate to recomend Mr Imbuldeniya and his team.

I finally made the decision to have my right hip replaced following numerous steroid injections and various levels of pain over the last few years and several discussions with Mr Imbuldeniya.

2 weeks post op and if you didn't know, you wouldn't know....the Hip(H)op as it came to be known was a huge success.

I insisted that I wanted to get up about 4 hours after my surgery, the nurses were reluctant so called a physio who watched me get out of bed and use a walking frame to take myself off to the bathroom. Impressive eh?

The next morning, I got myself up, washed, dressed and even put on some make up before breakfast, this made me feel a whole lot better. Later that day I went home.

I was using 1 crutch only within a week for comfort and sometimes just naturally got up and forgot the crutch all together.

I've had some physio and have been doing the exercises religiously and have now moved on to Hydro Therapy which is great.

I think my recovery was made easier by the fact that I opted not to have a general anesthetic and had a spinal block instead, it was a strange, kind of out of body experience and I guess not for everyone.

I can't thank Mr Imbuldeniya, Annie and the team enough for being there every step of the way, my advice to anyone having a Hip(h)op is to try and stay positive, it really does work.

I was at the stage where walking was difficult and painful for me. My right leg hurt from groin to toes. I could not participate in family events. I could not sit for long without fidgeting. I made contact with Mr.Imbuldeniya and had a consultation with him at the BMI Syon Clinic. His enthusiasm for hip replacement-his enthusiasm for his work-and what it could do for me won me over.
I had the hip replacement nearly three weeks ago. After surgery I was amazed at the almost total absence of pain any where in my leg. I was on my feet the same day and instructed in the use of crutches before being allowed home two days later (it would have been earlier but for a concern about a slight rise in temperature).
I have been given some physio exercises-simple but vital-which I do religiously. I go out for walks on my crutches. I am still amazed at how well the procedure has worked. I am looking forward to doing things I would not have thought possible for me before. I am 74 years old and thanks to Mr.Imbuldeniya and his team I no longer feel 74 years old. I can join in family activities. I am only limited by my imagination. I thoroughly recommend having hip replacement surgery.

ACL Reconstruction

As soon as I met Mr Imbuldeniya I was instantly put at ease regarding the options regarding surgery, if as a last resort it was required and what the entire healing process would entail and realistic expectations of this procedure.

His bedside manner pre and post operation was impeccable and the result fantastic. I would highly recommend his medical treatment throughout my entire journey to full recovery.
