I was informed about Disability Initiative by my case manager and Occupational Therapist. I was apprehensive about attending initially, as my anxiety had been a real battle since sustaining my brain injury. We were invited to have a look around and I fell in love with it! They were all so welcoming, both the other clients and all the staff. The main thing my PA and I both noticed is the staff don’t speak to you as if you are ‘just a client’ or like you have a brain injury, they speak to you with the utmost respect, and include you in all conversations and agreements with your care plan. I absolutely love that they refresh what groups they are running every 10 weeks so you will never get bored, and offer everything from arts and crafts to researching about criminals, yoga, and basketball sessions. Whenever you attend, staff are always so happy, welcoming and supportive, not only to me but also my personal assistant. They assign you a key worker who helps to write up what your rehabilitation goals are and whatever you want to work towards and accomplish, and they will work alongside your current rehabilitation team to achieve everything. For lunch, you can either order something when you arrive ready for lunch or you can pop into town and get something else you fancy, as it’s in a very convenient location to do so. They even have a nutritional specialist to assist you in knowing what you can eat, and the nutritional specialist is wonderful, so kind and nonjudgmental. I honestly cannot fault this place, they have been vital in aiding my mental health as well as my brain injury rehabilitation. I really look forward to every session I attend and I have already begun to build friendships with the other clients whom attend. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Nice place to visit, staff are friendly and nice.
If you are attending the place for a Physio appointment, it's best to park in the multi story carpark next door to the cinema as it's free parking for the first 2 hours. Parking at the Disability Centre is limited, around 8 car spaces and a max stay of 30 minutes.
