My daughter was taken to A&E yesterday for the second time in 48 hours, in absolute agony. I go into hospital with her as she suffers with severe depression and panic attacks ,and even through the covid-19 rules have been allowed that privilege.
Whilst awaiting a doctor, an HCA, stormed across the pitstop, and told me I wasn't allowed to be there, and couldn't go into the hospital. Not only was she very rude, when I reacted badly called security... Luckily the on duty Sister took over and spoke to me in private, resulting in a positive outcome.
However, the disgusting behaviour of the HCA, was very distressing for my daughter, and myself as her outburst was very public and uncalled for, and certainly not within her remit.
As a general complaint there is a lack of empathy with people's mental health, and the inference that, in this instant, my daughters pain was in her head!!
She actually had a pelvic floor and kidney infection, and was admitted to hospital, finally.
Covid19 notwithstanding, the overall care has been nothing short of disgraceful, starting with a miscarriage in January 2020.
As a long term fan of the NHS, I can honestly say I now dread going to this hospital.
