Dental Care and Select Orthodontics - Hartlepool

Brought my son to this dentist after our usual dentist stopped seeing patients after covid. My son quite clearly needs braces, but we had to wait for his final baby tooth to fall out. We were told to return before his scheduled check up if it came out before then as we would be referred to the orthodontist then. So we did just that. Last week my son was back in the dentist hoping for an orthodontist referral. To be told he has to wait another 6 months for his final two adult teeth to come through. He was in his check up for under 3 minutes, and told to wait again another 6 months. The receptionist was quite busy throughout the waiting time but displayed extremely good skills with new and regular patients, on first name terms etc. after patients would leave after their treatment the receptionist displayed first hand information regarding their next appointment and on first name terms. After a 30 minute extra wait, for a 3 minute check up, we left the room to be greeted with zero of what had just been displayed to other patients while we waited. No ‘you are due back in 6 months etc, do you want me to make an appointment for you’ just a stare of contempt. We stood in front of her and asked if that was everything and after we received no response, we left the waiting room. My partner rang Queensway today and booked our son an orthodontist appointment for as soon as possible, to be told we don’t need to wait six months for his adult teeth to come through and that the referral should have still been made due to waiting times and for the orthodontist to assess our son for themselves. Extremely frustrating. Dentists couldn’t seem to care less about their nhs patients anymore. It’s all about the private patients who are paying it seems. But my son is 14 and self conscious it seems ridiculous to keep making him wait when the orthodontist has agreed to see him anyway but unfortunately we’ve had to take it into our own hands and directly to them for this to happen.

I was fortunate enough to get a emergency appointment as my old dentist took me of there list.

The office staff were welcoming and my appointment was on time.

I was having trouble with a wisdom tooth and dentist recommended extraction, which went completely smoothly.

However the 5 stars are for the manner the dentist and nurse put me at ease and made a procedure less stressful.

Also the genuine professionalism of the dentist and care he gave was very appreciated.

I phoned up on the morning and was seen at lunch time the same day for emergency treatment on a loose filling. The dentist listened to what I had to say, and everything was sorted quickly and professionally. Anesthetic was given as soon as I said "ouch" once, a direct contrast to other selectively deaf dentists I've visited previously.

Ive recently changed to this practice and now wouldn’t go anywhere else from going in to coming out the staff are lovley and the dentist I have seen and been treated by I couldn’t Reccomended enough totally put me at ease so Thankyou.

Really unperfessional, unhelpful. Blame the patient for things they do wrong. Braces weren't fixed on properly came off the first day as soon as we got home. Avoid them with a barge pole. Shouldn't get paid for the shoddy job they did.
