There’s never any appointments, in all the time I’ve needed a doctors appointment I’m always told there fully booked up call 111 or try a walk in centre. I live in Cottingham and can’t even get an appointment! I’m currently suffering with a trapped nerve and struggling to move, and the receptionist told me to visit a walk in centre.
Not to mention when I first moved to Cottingham I was informed by a doctor I had a stomach bug that required antibiotics, but due to the fact I have had so many bad experiences with antibiotics I refused to take them at that point, but when I called up asking if I could try some a week later as the doctor advised me, I was told there was no infection regarding this particular issue and that there was no evidence I had any bacteria in my stomach creating my problems.
I’ve had the worst experience with giving blood there and they always come back with the wrong results, or missing !
I’ve had to pay privately in the past to get the correct results. What is going on with the medical care here? What is going on with this establishment! I never want to call because I think what’s the point there never actually available and when you do get an appointment your none the wiser. It’s a dangerous situation and not being able to trust your medical doctor surgery makes you feel unsafe. I’m still suffering with my stomach conditions they never helped me all the times I’ve called up. And I’m currently having to call 111 regarding my back trapped nerve. At least that’s what I think it is because I’m unable to get a doctor in Cottingham!

Finally got an appointment after calling 59 times in a morning. Came to my appointment was running 5 minutes late due to traffic. And the receptionist was busy with someone so I waited, then I was 10 minutes late and then she turned and said to me I’m 10 minutes late with a bad attitude! Honestly does this surgery only employ people with bad attitudes? Must be on the job description…rude and unprofessional behaviour please!

Negligent, incompetent and rude—particularly the female receptionists.

By no means am I a special snowflake, however a Doctors surgery should be required to uphold certain standards of conduct, standards that seem perfectly acceptable to be disregarded here.

If you wish to have a telephone appointment that you either A never receive, or B on one occasion receive several hours after your scheduled appointment time, and reception staff that disregard their duties of care (and your needs as a patient of the surgery) —because evidently it appears that this is perfectly acceptable conduct, and for them to do nothing to follow this up and correct the costly errors made (it must be hard sitting at a desk all day) — then this is the place for you.

If you are tired of your job, maybe go work somewhere else; perhaps somewhere where you aren’t required to deal with people, something which seems far more suited to the abilities of many members of staff here.

Much love.

My sister is almost die and now is suffering at hospital with the most seriously IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), anemia, malnourished... Nearly a month without any results with gp. Reception is rude, hard to book an appointment, even you met the doctor (lady) they are still not helpful just tell you are fine and lose your specimens.

Awful experience, newborn baby in pain all the time and they just don't care... all we wanted was a referral so I could use my private medical care through work to get my newborn seen to quicker. We have been to A&E and it's not an emergency appointment as it potentially needs reoccurring care.

Started off by nearly not even taking him on as we are out of the catchment even though my partner has been with them years so we had to argue just to get him seen to, at this point he is 3 weeks old. Then another appointment we just ask for the referral as we are sick of being given different medications which make our newborn 10x worse and over a week passes, whilst my newborn is still struggling with no explanation to his symptoms and still no referral typed up even though the doctor wrote it by hand the day after the appointment.

We were forced to find new doctors as when signing up they said its only temporary and then they would not give us the completed letter to send off to insurance and now we have to give it to the new doctors to get them to put their letterhead on it even though Cottingham did the referral and they wrote it, now we have to wait further time to even get an appointment booked in to find out what is wrong with our newborn baby.

I must say there was one woman who was really helpful and even went to the secretaries whilst on the phone to get updated on the situation.

I was in line to the computer and I miss my appointment by 1 minute, they did not help me to get appointments on the same day. Very disappointed I am now looking to change GP, they need more workers to help there customers and lest time on the phone and computer, this will make customers feel more welcome and greeted.
Definitely need a change.

Receptionist not interested in my wife's problem and very quick to tell you there are no appointments for two weeks. No thought about the pain of the patient in front of them or the fact that there are always cancellations in such a large surgery, so why not be helpful and say you will be contacted when an appointment becomes available. The reviews show a theme of por empathy. Are these issues followed up?

Average waiting time to get through is about 40 minutes via phone. Dr Kieran was the first and only doctor I saw. Cold, dismissive, disinterested and rude. After this experience, which I did write to the practice about (the msg went unacknowledged), I soon signed up to the other practice in Cottingham and am very pleased I did. I've so far had a much kinder and efficient reception.

The staff at this practice are very good people. I have been most impressed with the help and support they have given my wife who is seriously ill. The reception team are polite helpful and efficient and the doctors most supportive. Furthermore, in spite of being busy they do their work with kindness and friendliness.
During this pandemic they have organised flu jabs safely and efficiently. There has been a lot of criticism of GP surgeries at this time.
I can say these criticisms do not apply to this practice.
Well done all of you.
