I had a very disappointing experience with Churchills Pharmacy when seeking an emergency prescription after being directed there by 111 online. Despite being listed as a pharmacy capable of handling emergency prescriptions, they are clearly not ready for business and should not be included on 111’s website.

Upon arrival, it was evident the premises was still a building site. There were no goods on display, shelves and walls were incomplete, and the space was dirty and dusty. The staff appeared to be unpacking supplies rather than operating as a functioning pharmacy. Despite this, I waited 5 minutes to be served and showed them all necessary documentation, including confirmation from 111 and my NHS app details, which clearly listed their pharmacy as my chosen choice.

The pharmacist was unhelpful and hostile throughout the interaction. She repeatedly insisted they had not received a request from 111, even after I showed clear evidence to the contrary. She then called a different pharmacy to check if they had received it instead, which made no sense given the confirmations I provided showed Churchills' details. She advised that I could go to my regular pharmacy and ask them for an emergency supply despite them not being listed on the NHS website as being able to do so.

It became clear that she did not want to help and/or know how to locate the request online or in their system.

Despite my best efforts, including having 111 on the phone to clarify, the issue remained unresolved. The pharmacist refused to take ownership of the problem or find a solution, and after 45 minutes of frustration, I had no choice but to leave.

The incredible 111 call handler stayed on the phone with me the entire time and recommended that I use another pharmacy, he advised that Churchills do not know where to look for emergency prescriptions and apologised for my experience there.

He arranged collection at another pharmacy opposite who handled the matter in minutes, they reassured me that they would not let me leave without my required medication as they had other means of requesting and processing it for me.

I cannot recommend Churchills pharmacy to anyone based on this stressful, laborious and unhelpful experience.
