I'm an autistic disabled young adult and I haven't been to the dentist in a long time outside of emergency appointments due to anxiety. My dentist, Merlin, and the staff as a whole were very understanding and accommodating where possible, and when I mentioned I have trouble brushing due to the mint in most adult toothpastes overwhelming my sensory issues, they provided multiple different options free of charge and even left me with a couple more recommendations in case none suited me when I tried them.

My past dentists were dismissive or even cruel about my sensory anxiety surrounding dental procedures, brushing, flossing and so on, so I was terrified but knew I needed to get back into the dentist, and my anxieties were very quickly eased. Staff were helpful and friendly, it's a very quiet building and it seems they have a lot of experience helping disabled patients. Would recommend highly!

It's a doctor's, you call at 8am for an appointment that day, if you don't call them and get in the queue chances are you won't get in that.
Tbh, they've got a call back system which is pretty good, in fact it’s buzzing cos you call at 8am, leaving Ur details, and whaddaya know a member of staff from the surgery calls you back and so you don't have to actually wait in a phone queue.
Pretty cool ?

I always used to feel sorry when I heard people telling me stories about their gp practice, about not being able to get appts, poor services, and gp's seeming to not care . I used to think.. that would never happen to our surgery at Southmoor in Hemsworth ... and it didn't, until it was taken over and combined together with Church View.
I don't know if it's a case of too many patients for too few drs, but trying to get an online appointment is absolutely impossible. I have looked day after day, and there's been not one single availability. If you do happen to ring for one ,you are on hold for anything up to 45 minutes to then be told, sorry, all the appts have now gone. In an absolute emergency, the girls on reception will do their utmost to squeeze you in with someone, but it's usually a nurse practitioner or a locum gp... which, to be honest, I prefer to the resident gp's in the practice... at least they try to help. To say I'0m not happy is an understatement , but I can't fault the reception staff, nurses etc The practice needs more doctors, more appointment availability and more patient care.

Really poor. It's almost impossible to get a doctors appointment. More especially if you want to see a specific doctor. The doctors are fully booked every single week so you have to ring the next morning to see if there is anything available then.
Well good luck with that because the chances if getting through are virtually nil and if you are one of the lucky ones who gets through you can almost guarantee there's no appointments left.
So, you're told to try again the next day and the next day and the next day. This goes on and on until you give up trying or have to try 111.
So, basically, it's blatantly obvious that they are hugely under staffed and would appear poorly managed. The patients certainly don't come 1st. They say this is due to the overall pressures put on the NHS at present which I and everyone I know locally says this is rubbish, as it's been the same for years. At least the 12 years that I have known it.
Yet, to add insult to injury for all the poorly patients who are desperately needing an appointment, the surgery website states that they are 'currently accepting new patients'. This is an absolute disgrace as they can't accommodate the patients that they already have.
As for the reception staff, well, they are a law unto themselves and for the most part they don't seem to listen or care about the patients needs whatsoever. There has of course been the odd one or two who have been very helpful but in general they are not.
I could go on and on but, is there any point as nothing will change.
If you have read this, you get the general idea.
Good luck.

If i could give 0 stars i would. Transferred to Laingwaithe surgery and my repeat prescriptions didn't move with me so now the surgery wont give me my medicines after a major back operation and im in excruciating pain! when i ask for an emergency appointment to get the medication i was told by a extremely rude receptionist that i did not deserve an emergency appointment and that i would be booked in when the next appointment was available. no concern, no care. I'm taking this higher, cruelty at its finest!!

Extremely rude receptionist this morning who completely ignored us while I waited with my disabled son at her desk for help. Stared at her computer screen and carried on clicking her mouse, without even acknowledging us, except for a sideways glance. Out of politeness I waited for her to finish and when my son asked where we were meant to be going, I said I was still waiting to find out at which point she was downright rude to us, pretending she “hadn’t seen us.” Without giving us the help we needed except to tell me that “this was a doctors surgery” she deliberately turned to help someone else. I actually had to sit down in the waiting room to ring the person who had arranged the appointment for my son to find out the directions to the department we needed to be in. Absolutely disgusted at her rude attitude, especially when I was trying to be considerate to her.
