The worst GP in my opinion. Doctors don't listen to you, receptionist apparently need to know everything or else you won't get an appointment. They question if you're wanting to speak to a doctor as an emergency, they won't take your word for it.
I got told I had a telephone appointment (very important phonecall) and on the day I rang at 5pm, they said i can receive a call all the way up until 6pm, so rude about it. They eventually rang at 17:55pm (5 minutes before closing) so the phonecall was rushed.
One doctor says one thing, one says the other. It's a joke.
Avoid this surgery.

A family member has recently had some health issues and the care they’ve received by the Church Avenue team has been exemplary. Special shout out to Mrs Hunt (ANP). The whole team (from receptionists, HCA’s, nurses and doctors) have been amazing. Keep up the great work

Quite literally the worst GP in England, which is a shame as I’ve used it for 37 years and over the last decade it’s done nothing but deteriorate in quality.
I made contact on the 4th, to be told the earliest appointment is the 30th.
Absolutely unacceptable and I’m dumbfounded how poorly managed this GP is.
Reception didn’t give a monkeys and the quality of the conversation over the phone was nothing short of ignorant.
I’m proceeding to bite the bullet and move to an alternative GP now as Church Avenue is beyond help.

I initially called after finding a lump on my chest and a nurse at work encouraging me to get it looked at. I called and told the receptionist what the problem was. She offered me an appointment 3 weeks later. I said I need something sooner than that (obviously!) and she told me to call in the morning. Very unsympathetic but hey ho.

I turned up at 8am two days later, I explained and they saw me right away. Great! The advanced practitioner had a good look and said she believed it may be an infection but it didn’t look like cancer, however, take antibiotics for 7 days and if it’s still there come back.

So I did. 8am. I explained everything and asked to see her again. I was told she isn’t in till 10.30. Well can I see a female doctor please? No. The duty doctor is a male. I was reluctant to see a male but it’s urgent so I asked to see him instead asap. Also a no, because he is on duty and may be at an emergency and he triages all his own patients. So I felt like I had to explain everything to the receptionist in earshot of other patients, so she would hopefully understand, and who knows? Maybe have a tiny bit of empathy for me. Not a chance! I asked why she told me to come back next week if she isn’t in till later, and I have to go to work. The receptionist starts telling me well 9.40 is gone, 9.50 is gone because as we speak, the girls upstairs are answering the phone, essentially hurrying me up to make a decision like I was wasting their time. I just walked out and told them THIS was a waste of time. I have done what the nurse suggested because I trust them to make decisions about my health.

I work for the NHS myself, and people come to me with all sorts of problems that I cannot solve or I have no control over, and at the very least I try and demonstrate a bit of understanding, a bit of empathy, some reassurance. Don’t be in the job if you can’t do it

Just to say thank you to the Staff and Nurses at Church Avenue. I had a cyst removed that would heal well, they saw me immediately and gave great advice on both occasions.

Phoned today to an unfriendly hello not church ave surgery call answered by zoe,not helpful at all said I'd get a call back. Before i even had chance to ask could i get an appointment? seemed very put out by my call and had assumed id been sick i found her abrupt.asked for texts to stop to MY phone as I don't need them constantly for the blood clinic when i never have bloods done, she said she may not be able to stop them and then chuntered under her breath wow as if I'd asked for something unreasonable. I don't feel happy with the attitude. She said I need them for confirmation of appointments, if I call I know when I've booked my appointment for,you know before we relied on mobiles im perfectly capable of booking and attending without multiple text. Used to be friendly but the attitude today was shocking.

Edit:
The manager called to apologise after listening to the call and advised this was below the standard expected.
Edit April 24
Still receiving texts despite asking again 2 times via email.if you don't want multiple texts sent against your will this is the gp.

A friend who is gravely ill with cancer and can hardly stand let alone walk was informed she is fit to work “ light duties” only.
What type of Doctors work here
Shameful, shocking, nasty and seeking legal advice at this time.
I hope this Doctor gets struck off!!!!

poor, asked for a phone appointment, I had to wait 2 weeks for this, waited all day as no time was given only for the phone to ring once and then hang up, now I have re arranged but the best I can get is in 3 weeks. Very poor service and reception were not interested in hearing about it.
