I think that people are more prone to write a negative review if they have had a bad experience, so I thought I'd balance things up a bit by reporting my own findings. I have only ever had excellent experiences at this surgery; doctors and nurses all very caring and conscientious. Reception staff are polite and efficient, even this week when I arrived an hour after my appointment time, (despite the reminder text the previous day). I was utterly mortified by my error in wasting a doctor’s time, and yet the receptionist was most polite and understanding whilst making an alternative appointment. I can highly recommend Cheddar Medical Practice.

I have finally had enough and left this practice after twenty years. This is a shame because the doctor I've been seeing is good but I have had one too many bad experiences with the other staff.
The last time I went, I was told categorically by the receptionist and her colleague that the two things I was asking for, regarding prescriptions, were not possible (even though they'd been done before). When I queried why they were being so obstructive, another staff member joined in and told me that if I didn't like it, I could leave.
So I have.
I did however phone the doctor later who immediately agreed to both my 'impossible' requests.
While I was waiting, a homeless person came in to collect his meal vouchers. The receptionist's attitude to this person was one of total contempt. I was disgusted.
There's no excuse for this behaviour. I don't care how difficult your job might sometimes be, you do not issue incorrect information that you're not qualified to give. Nor do you intimidate your patients.

I had an appointment today to see my Dr after having major surgery, during the appointment the Dr checked my scar tissue and found I needed to see a nurse , so he wrote a note to hand to the receptionist.
I handed her the note explaining, that this was a request by the Dr , to which she raised her eyebrows, and went on to say the Nurses were very busy on the day requested, to which I replied, I appreciate that, but I’d had major surgery and I needed to get a dressing done . I remained polite, but the receptionist, obviously thought her superior position would override my Drs decision! She then went on to tell me , that she would call me to fit me in. Her attitude was abrupt, non caring and what I would consider Rude !
I then went to pick up my antibiotics, prescribed , and while there, got a call to advise me an appointment was made , so I asked myself , why couldn’t she just have checked 5 minutes before I got the phone message ? The surgery was relatively normal, with no one waiting at the desk for assistance, this is not the first time I have had difficulty with this receptionist, and I’ve heard other patients say the same thing about her too , but enough is enough.
I’m not demanding, I’m always polite and respectful to staff , but I really have had enough of her approach to patients, there is a sign saying, be polite to staff etc …. But what about being polite to patients, especially if they are not feeling genuinely unwell.
Everyone else who had been on the desk have been lovely….. but her , why has she been allowed to do this job if she can’t be pleasant?

It's been a while since I visited the doctors and also 3 weeks since I booked the appointment however it wasn't an emergency. I saw Dr Ayo and she was great. She was thorough, caring, thought of alternate possibilities, put a treatment plan in place, and was friendly and very polite. I hope she is there to stay.
The receptionist today was also very polite and friendly. I couldn't fault either.

The receptionists are really poor, aggressive and unhelpful. it’s very very difficult to get an appointment and actually seeing a doctor is impossible. Even the message when you phone them is difficult to hear, lengthy and very negative in tone and content. The surgery is held in such low esteem by local people yet those running it seem oblivious to their dreadful reputation for poor service. I can say that the nurses are pleasant, efficient and engaged when you actually see them. Some of the doctors are fine.

The doctors, when you eventually get to see one, are very good. However, today I, along with other patients, witnessed the rude and arrogant receptionist sending two worried people on their way. One was grudgingly offered a call with the doctor later today after a lot of calm reasoning from the chap who would not take no for an answer. The other was sent away and having to contact the hospital who had told her to go to the GP in the first place. This was all done in full earshot of everyone waiting..including personal medical details! Shocking!

I have had the misfortune of dealing with at least 3 different doctors here; each of them more indifferent and unhelpful than the last. The receptionist treats people in such a callous manner it is literally enough to make you weep. Seriously, if you can avoid this place I would strongly advise you to do so. The one star is for the nurses, who are fabulous.
