Castle Donington Surgery - Derby

I rang the Castle Donington Health Centre at 8.15 am this morning. It came up that I was over 30 in the queue so I requested a call back. About 20 minutes later they called me back and I was offered an appointment at 9.10 am. The automated registration wasn’t working but the receptionist was friendly and helpful. I didn’t have to wait very long before being seen by a doctor who has advised on my condition and referred me to the Physio Det. I simply cannot fault the service received

Most appointments are at least 30 mins late but if you are 5 mins late they will turn you away. Some lovely nurses, always kind and friendly but the majority of doctors and some staff are the complete opposite. Personal experience I’ve had shows how they lack empathy and compassion, especially when mental health is concerned.

Please don’t join this surgery if you have any kind of neurodevelopmental condition, they have no understanding and lack awareness surrounding this.
They will use anything in your medical history to prove that you’re not affected by your condition, and then tell you sorry we’re not trying to diminish your issues without ever having spoken to you, or done any kind of assessment - I’ve never even seen the doctor who made an analysis of my condition for instance.

I don’t really know what happened to this surgery as it used to be so supportive of my issues in the past, but has completely changed in the last couple of years, I chose to leave in the end.

You’re not going to be understood or supported at this surgery if you have anything mental health or otherwise, that affects your daily living.

If only you could give no stars, this surgery is a joke. You can never get an appointment, you have to phone in the morning at 0830 and if you phone on the dot you are already number 30 in the queue. I phoned in the mid morning just to get a repeat of drugs and I couldn’t even get to talk to a doctor ffs I have resorted to buying drugs of the internet. It’s a disgusting the service

Awful. Called as soon as they opened, number 28 in the queue, waited almost an hour to be told no appointments and if I want to prebook it would be 3 weeks away. Told to go to walk in centre. Useless. Its been this way for so long now, you might as well not bother!

Can never get appointments and reception are no help at all. Nearly all doctors are part time, chaos, appointments are few since Covid as it seems to be the only surgery who think Covid rules still apply when no other surgeries do. It has been over for 3 years!

The entire team are always kind and helpful.
It is a difficult time for the NHS and I believe that they are doing a valiant job. The reception staff are often spoken to in a rude manner, when unable to comply with patients wishes, which is unacceptable, but they remain calm and respectful.
The doctors and nurses are all extremely professional and caring.
I think that the residents of Castle Donington should be extremely grateful to have such a good surgery.

Shocking overall. Though I appreciate the workload they have you can never get an appointment even when you call up in good time. Ran late to one appointment by 8 minutes, sat and waited for 20 minutes only to have it cancelled right in front of me. Ok for them to keep you waiting for what feels like eternity but when you’re late due to uncontrollable matters you’re condemned for it. Parking and location rubbish. Looking to register elsewhere.
