I called yesterday to book an appointment for my mum with a Dr. I left this practice a long time ago thankfully.
I spoke to Janice who was extremely unbelievably rude to me in her manner and tone. She would not even give me a chance to explain the problem and kept talking over me and refused to book my mum with a GP. She was screaming down the phone , talking over me and interrupting me. She asked me to be professional ... this made me laugh... She said she was the senior person of the office ,my God if she is talking to people in this manner at her level then what can be expected from the junior staff members. When I asked to speak to the manager she said no she's not here. Janice has no respect no empathy she is definatley in the wrong profession and I carnt understand how she has lasted this long and getting away with her attitude towards people. She has been rude to me previously on atleast 2 occasions but I let it go but yesterday she crossed limits.
In the end I had to put the phone down because she became very aggressive in her manner and the conversation was not going anywhere she clearly needs an update or some better training on how to deal with situations and how not to escalate them.
I called back and spoke to shazia who was very helpful she listened to the problem and was not rude so thank you shazia for being professional Janice needs to take some lessons from you or maybe just retire because she is clearly not cut out for this job. I will be removing my mother from this surgery and God help the patients who are registered or come into contact with Janice.
Reception staff are Frontline members of the team and have a great impact on the patients they should help and assist patients not yell and bully them.

I have recently been dialoging with the surgery and I would like to say the reception team are super. I have had the pleasure to speak with Janice, Shazia and Rohima more recently, who are all lovely, caring, kind and professional. An extra massive thank you to Janice who I have spoken to most and I can say her care for patients is excellent and her kindness, compassion, empathy is so appreciated. THE NHS should acknowledge the fantastic staff at Bilton. Also a shout out to all the Doctors and the in surgery staff. I have not spoken to all but I am sure all are as lovely as the reception.

Terrible customer service. As a 20 year old who has had a rare auto immune condition since the age of 15. First of all after waiting hours on end they cut the call. If they do answer which is extremely rare, the receptionists are rude and shout over the phone. They do not listen to what you have to say. The doctors don’t seem qualified and just tell you to visit the hospital for all issues or claim there’s nothing wrong with you despite your medical history. I was supposed to have prescribed steroids from my illness(if I don’t have my steroids I can potentially die when i have a flare up). They gave these steroids one month late. I lose 1kg a day and can’t keep any food or water in my stomach as I vomit it out because of my inflamed bowel. This surgery has to be investigated.

THIS SURGERY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY! To call yourself a doctor surgery how do we receive help from a doctor who we can’t even explain our illnesses or worries too. The receptionist are rude and do not have basic manners to speak to someone who is vulnerable and sick. I have been ringing since 9am and it’s now 15:47, this is an absolute joke. So disappointed and angry with the level of STUPIDITY a surgery can have !! CLOSE UR SURGERY DOWN YOU WILL BE DOING YOURSELF A FAVOUR. IF YOU CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO PICK A PHONE UP DO NOT BOTHER COMING INTO WORK!!!

Two points: Dr Afzal is a credit to Bilton medical centre. A compassionate clinician, who actually cares for his patients, well done. Reception, administration staff need to communicate better in an empowering way. Nobody likes to give their name, DOB and address out loudly, so others can hear it. Please bear that in mind. Confidentiality, dignity et al. Thank you.

I wanted to follow on from my review as today I had a different experience so I thought I'd put this at the top I put stars up because Dr Afzal is an amazing Doctor who should get the recognition he deserves for his hard work and effort. He treats all his patients with respect and care. Advises me on what to eat and what to avoid eating. He also told me what medication would help being ill and that if I had any problems to come back. This I felt very cared for and looked after. In this day and age your lucky to even be seen by a doctor.

(Absolutely appalling duty of care. I requested an Inhaler on repeat prescription as I had run out. The receptionist told me to wait till Wednesday!! ( If you have asthma why on earth would you wait till Wednesday if you need an inhaler). After calling 111 who said they will send the GP surgery a message and being advised to call them back. I called the GP back I was then told to call back at 6pm. I called at 6pm but the surgery was closed.. Now I've to do without an inhaler.)

I have only the highest praise for this practice, especially the receptionists and both ladies named Yasmin, who are always friendly and helpful. Dr Afzal is my GP and he is very supportive. The practice is also rated Good by the CQC. I moved to this practice in June 2023 and am just sorry I didn't know about BMC sooner. The level of care is outstanding. Thank you to all doctors and staff for the hard work you put in, it is noticed and appreciated!

Appalling behaviour from Janice receptionist. She is rude and has know form of customer service. She screams down the phone and doesn’t know how to treat a poorly patient. She claims she is the office manager but has so sense of management I can’t believe she’s been working there for so long. It’s about time they get rid of her, she is causing patients to leave this surgery.
