We went in with our daughter (2 years old) because she was sick. Got told to give her calpol and come back if it gets worse. Repeat 3/4 times and then got seen by a locum doctor who made a paediatric referral where she was treated for sepsis. The locum followed up the next day when she was hospitalised to see how she was going, and seemed to genuinely care.

Another time came in with a broken foot, got told it’s not broken and gave anti-inflammatory meds. Ended up calling nhs 24 who got me an emergency xray in Dunfermline who confirmed the fracture but caouldnt get a cast because of how long it took to confirm

I’ve registered with Bennochy Surgery for years, and always had been great service apart from odd times when one or two receptionist weren’t very friendly, but I understand how much the pressure they get due to the demanding work loads, so I didn’t really mind it. I’ve had several doctors that seen me here and I must say they were all brilliant and helpful. I worked in care and had to deal with some other GPs, and I must say Bennochy is far the better one. I just came across so many negative reviews on here, that I thought I should say what I experienced myself. After working so many years in care, I do have some kind of understanding about how the healthcare works. But reading some of other reviews, I think it’s a bit unfair.

Just phoned surgery this morning, yes on hold for 20mins, but got through to lovely receptionist who gave me an app this morning with nurse. Not my practice, phoned for partner, but after reading poor reviews i was impressed.

Dr Morrison, he was just amazing. I felt instantly at ease, and it was so easy to explain to him. I just wished he was a permanent Doctor there. Well done I thank him for actually listening and caring.

13minutes on hold to be told I can’t have an appointment unless I phone every morning at 8am to see if I can get one on the phone call appointment lottery. No account of work or other commitments, and the doctor had actually asked me to come in!

I’ve 8 days of medication left, just going to ween myself off and hope for the best. Sick and tired of having to fight for an appointment every single time. IF you can an appointment most of the doctors are great, you just can’t get appointments without jumping through so many hoops and the reception staff can be quite rude and dismissive

I recently moved here from the US but I am a UK citizen. I was informed by the NHS National Services offices in Edinburgh that because I'm staying at an airbnb temporarily that I can go into any medical centre and get treatment without filling out a form. Here's their actual response to me:
A Temporary Resident can approach any nearby GP and receive treatment. You will need to speak to the practice and explain that you are only in the area temporarily and specifically ask to be seen as a Temporary Resident,.

I went into this place and the woman working the check-in did not know how to do her job, nor did she make any attempt to help me or to ask someone else in the centre who might have better information. She grilled me about why I needed to see a doctor. I said I just had shoulder surgery and need physical therapy. She proceeded to tell me there's no point then, since there's a wait to see a physical therapist. She asked me twice if I had a family member already going to that practice. I explained again that that was irrelevant and tried to show her the email from NHS again, but she couldn't be bothered. I've now been in the country two weeks and still haven't been able to see a doctor. I would rather get no care than to go here, if this is the 'care' they show potential patients. There was no email to send this to, and I wasn't going to call because she'd probably answer and I'd want to scream.

3 times I got connected, got ring tone only to get a voice saying everyone busy, someone obviously decided to to answer their line after 45mins I eventually get to speak to someone, who says all appointments were gone by 0815, if the line I got connected to at 0809 had answered then maybe I would have been one of the lucky ones to see gp
