Working with Darren made me angry with my old psychologist. From day one reading his online bio I sensed a difference. He's a real guy, who's been through real stuff, and brings the heft of a life lived with him. I was so sick of being taught CBT and mindfulness I was about to throw a chaise longue out the nearest window, but Darren brings a full PhD tool kit and can tailor the method to the person. There's no clock-watching, it's a real relationship, and the more energy I gave to the journey outside our sessions the more Darren gave back. Nor is there any 'therapist voice’. Not to say he's not gentle and fatherly when needed, but he speaks plain English and he'll press your buttons and challenge when there's benefit. I've left sessions reeling, feeling I'd been played by a master pianist, so you experience your sessions with Darren in a way I'd always hoped therapy could and should be like. And Darren feels every last bit of it as much as you do, sometimes he'll feel them for you if you're not ready yet. It's not coping strategies or band-aids, it's processing, understanding, and rolling the boulder off your soul. He gave me hope and plan when I was at a loss, and brought me to the resolution and peace I always dreamed of. I'm so grateful I'm almost crying writing this. Life-changing!

Jane came highly recommended to me, as my anxiety had increased during menopause, and I suffered with a lack of confidence. I didn’t know what to expect, as I have not had therapy before, and Jane made me feel at ease straightaway. Jane is so easy to talk to and you don’t feel judged in any shape or form. I'm quite a private person but I felt that I could tell Jane anything and be so open and honest. I always came out of my sessions feeling so upbeat, confident, and able to achieve anything. My therapy with Jane has completely changed my outlook and it has greatly helped with my anxiety, and it has changed my life for the better. I continue to use her strategies and thought processes when needed, and my confidence has grown both personally and professionally. I never expected therapy to have such a massive impact on my life, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would highly recommend Jane and Beacon Therapy.

I’ve been visiting Darren since 2019 which was during a very difficult period. He immediately made me feel at ease with his honest approach and I get able to put my trust in him and talk freely, which is something that I have previously found difficult.

I am now much more equipped to deal with difficult situations and challenges, through a variety of tools that we have worked on together. I still visit Darren (less frequently) and find real comfort to know that I’m able to talk through situations with him without being judged.

I genuinely look forward to my visits with Darren and always walk away with a weight lifted and ready to face any challenge.

I cannot recommend Beacon Therapy highly enough. If you are struggling in any way with mental health, get in touch with Darren to see how he can help.

The sessions have had with Darren since 2018 have genuinely changed my life. I am now much more able and equipped to deal with challenges in life and sustain positive relationships with those close to me.

I was never the sort of person who would reach out for help, let alone see a psychologist, but Darren's approach really worked for me. He is direct but in an extremely constructive way. Darren has given me tools that I genuinely use every single day to help me through life's problems.

Overall I am a much more well rounded person and it's all thanks to the time spent with Darren.

I cannot recommend Beacon Therapy and Dr Adamson enough. If you are struggling in any way with mental health I'd implore you to get in touch with Darren to see how he can help.

I’ve been with Darren for over two years now.
I initially came with one problem but once that was rectified, I realised that seeing him keeps my anxiety levels at a more manageable level and I’m a happier person for that.
I have issues trusting and connecting with people but Darren put me at ease straight away.
He’s patient, genuine, empathetic and I can tell him anything and be myself without the fear of being judged.
I feel so much stronger and happier in myself thanks to him and I would 100% recommend him to anyone.

Darren at Beacon Therapy helped me when nobody else could. I had everything thrown at me in the last few years, elderly parents with multiple health and mental health issues, Covid, my own health problems. Then Mum and Dad died and I had all the probate and house selling stuff to do. Add to that the underlying issues I've had since childhood and I simply fell apart by degrees.

The doctor gave me pills, which just made me so "flat" and unresponsive I had to stop taking them. Talking Matters Northumberland tried CBT which helped the symptoms but didn't deal with the underlying cause. I had a counsellor through "Mind". She was lovely to talk to, but had no psychiatric training and couldn't dig deep enough.

Darren immediately put me at ease. He started by listening. Then he began to teach me why I was like this, what was going on in my subconscious. He taught me the tools I needed to deal with my feelings and behaviour. He taught me about "spoons" and the "P.A.C." theory. I've never understood so completely my own brain, my core beliefs and my "unhelpful" thoughts.

I've recently discharged myself because I feel I now have the ability to manage my own mental health for the first time in my life. I can always go back if I need to, which is reassuring. I feel like "me" again and I'm beginning to enjoy my life.

If you've tried everything else, I can highly recommend Darren at Beacon Therapy. Darren put me back together. He's is a big sci-fi fan like me, which gave us an immediate connection. As the Mandalorians say, "This is the way"...

I can honestly and wholeheartedly say that Darren saved my life. At my lowest point, Darren showed me a clear path forward and gave me hope that things could get better. He is kind, caring and very easy to talk to. I will never be able to thank him enough for his kindness and support.
If you are going through a bad time and feel that there is no hope, contact Beacon Therapy - you’ll never look back.

As a male of a certain generation, I was rather sceptical about counselling – it was something I should be strong enough and experienced enough to never need. How wrong I was.

Jane immediately put me at ease, and I instinctively knew that I was in a safe place to explore not only what I was dealing with, but to delve into every aspect of my life; my past, mentality, reactions, emotions, relationships and struggles.
Jane simply and gently delved into these areas, in such a reassuring way, that I could really open up and discuss things I’d never discussed before, and then Jane worked with me to help me understand the confusions I had.

Through the sessions, I have learned a huge amount about myself; how I have reacted in personal and professional situations, and why so many of those behaviours were borne from my life experiences to date, and the core beliefs that I had grown up with.
I have come through the sessions and now know that I am a better version of myself, with a much, much greater ability to be in control of my own happiness & contentment, and a significantly greater understanding of boundaries and self-worth.

The only regret that I have, is that I didn’t start the sessions with Jane much earlier in life, and would thoroughly recommend counselling with Jane to anyone.
