I recently enjoyed afternoon tea here with a friend, and it was an incredible experience! I had the gluten and dairy-free setup, and it was honestly the most delicious I’ve ever had. Every item was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly, making it a truly memorable visit.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful, allergy-friendly afternoon tea experience!

We recently hired the lovely drawing room for afternoon tea to celebrate my mums 80th birthday.. the hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas so had a wonderful festive vibe.. our afternoon tea was nice enough & although there were a couple of minor hiccups throughout the afternoon, we were lucky enough to have been assigned the lovely Leah to look after us. Leah was extremely friendly & efficient, Nothing was too much trouble & her input certainly helped make our celebration more enjoyable.. A great representative for the hotel..

I’m genuinely torn about this review as I’ve had such great experiences with this brand at Alexander Utopia and for the most part my first time at Barnett Hill was just as good.

I was checked in by a wonderful gentleman who was really attentive the entire time I was there, including arranging my massage appointment. Pretty much everyone I encountered was lovely with genuine warmth. My massage was 40 minutes instead of the advertised 55 minutes so I was reimbursed at checkout, great.

What wasn’t great was that from the moment I called and spoke to the same lovely gentleman (I’m sorry that I don’t remember his name to give him the praise he deserves) I was advised that an item I left would be posted back to me the following day and I insisted to pay for postage. I spoke with him as soon as I got home on 30 January and I had to call today to be told that the item is still there as apparently the one person who would post this out was on annual leave last week. They could “probably do this by Thursday” (13 February). Not one person thought to at least contact me to say that the posting would be delayed and the receptionist I spoke with and whoever she passed onto was very defensive. Whilst I take responsibility for being forgetful, I have maintained my responsibility and as a result have asked for the postage to be charged to the card used for the booking. It doesn’t take what is now seven working days and counting to get to the Post Office.

What was my first solo trip here for a well needed break has turned into an unnecessary debacle which is a shame given that for the most part most of the people here are lovely.

We had a lovely stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and modern. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, highly recommended a walk around on a nice day. We didn’t dine in the restaurant due to a prior engagement, we did however enjoy the bar and afternoon tea which is a lovely experience.

I have just left the Barnett Hill hotel, I'm currently still in the car park and I just had to leave a review right away. We came today to have a champagne afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. The food was lovely the deserts were festive, creative and delicious but the show stopper to the whole experience was without a doubt the staff! Every single staff member we spoke to was happy, polite, fun and couldn't do enough to help in any way. Afternoon tea at the Barnett Hill is an absolute delight, we will definitely be back and recommending.

I suppose review writers are as varied in their opinions as there are stars in the sky but there are facts and there are opinions. So opinions first:- we had a split level room which was cleaned to my highest standards especially the bathroom. The bed was softer that I`m used to but tolerable. The staff including the do it all manager were exceptional doing all they could to assist. The lamb and the beef choices at dinner were tougher than they should have been whether by cut or cooking. ||Now some facts:- there were four of us in two rooms staying a total of three mights. We arrived at around 2.30pm to be informed that our room was ready. The others had arrived the day previously. Drinks prices were very high but I suppose to be expected at a venue which the AA gives 4*. What was unexpected and a fact was that on the account for our stays all extras were shown with additional service charges. So on top of the dinner costs was added 10% service. On top of the drinks prices was a similar service charge, the afternoon tea also had brasserie food service charge added but what was the most heinous addition was an "early entry" room charge addition of £50.00 as the book in time was 3.00pm. None of these supposed "service" charges had been previously advised. To his credit when the above mentioned manager was confronted with this traveller telling him that these charges were totally unacceptable especially the last mentioned he removed them without too much fuss. Considering the total for our stay was close to £1,000 the arithmetic on reduction is easily calcuable. ||So BEWARE. This abhorrant underhand sneaky practice might be common but I was truly shocked as having never encountered it anywhere. Then perhaps I don`t get out enough.

I admit I did have an issue but I don't feel it's fair to disclose it on the internet as although it took a second staff member to sort it out the following morning I can't fault the care, attention and the overall outcome of the issue. I wish I was staying here for a nicer reason than I am (very poorly dog in specialist vets) but I will be sure to come back when my dog is better and let him enjoy the experience too. As a wheelchair user and someone who is chronically ill it's very hard to stay away from home but having somewhere where both I can have independence in my wheelchair/mobility and also enjoy it with my therapy dog is amazing so I'll definitely be back, the next time it'll be with my dog too.
So many businesses whether they are online retailers, restaurants, hotels etc are struggling with low staffing levels and rising costs of things and yes things do go wrong sometimes but it's all about how the customer is listened to and then looked after and I strongly believe my issue was dealt with very very fairly so to me I don't feel it's right to dwell on the negative.
I've not had good pain days or health whilst staying here so haven't been able to experience breakfast- totally my fault as each evening I plan on making it to breakfast so I don't fill in my room service breakfast menu and both mornings I've not made it down to breakfast, but I can say the bar menu food is lovely- ordered as room service due to pain but I don't see how breakfast would be anything but lovely if the meals I've had so far for dinner have been lovely.

What a Find! Gorgeous hotel and grounds. We had a room in the gardener's cottage which was simply wonderful. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had, in the main hotel, overlooking the grounds. Would definitely go again and stay longer. This was arranged a tad last minute to start off our holiday and so happy we did!
