Having spent 2 weeks in hospital after suffering a fall at home my Mum who was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago was moved to Forest Hill care home, initially for 2 weeks respite. After living in her own home all her life, we naturally wanted the best for our Mother, a home from home if that was possible. Our first impression of Forest Hill was pleasing, the home was exceptionally clean with a homely feel to it. The staff were very professional without being stuffy, always ready with a smile and warm welcome regardless of how busy they were, they made us feel we were important to them, nothing was too much trouble, ever. Mum settled into the home quickly despite having always been reluctant to go into care, and the decision was made with Mum's agreement that her stay here would be permanent. We visited every day and the staff never failed to impress us with their attitude to all residents and visitors alike, no member of staff ever passed a resident or visitor without stopping for a quick chat. Unfortunately my Mum's health deteriorated after a few short weeks, but staff, qualified, carers, activity staff, domestic, catering and maintenance staff never failed in their delivery of care to her. They endlessly tried to tempt her with a variety of delicious freshly cooked foods, kept her spirits up with cheerful conversation, made sure Mum was clean and comfortable right up to the end. The staff at Forest Hill are a very special team of amazing, caring and compassionate people, who go way beyond what their roles demand of them and are happy to do it. We were looking for a home from home for Mum and that's exactly what we found at Forest Hill. Thank you, each and every one of you, for making our Mum's last few weeks the best we could have wished for. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Forest Hill.

I have been to visit a friend with my son today who is resident at Forest Hill Nursing home.

It was my first visit and as soon as we entered the building you could tell it was a nice home.

It smelt lovely, very clean and the staff who greeted us were very pleasant and friendly.

We found all the staff, that we saw, to be lovely and caring and they seemed very good with the patients,

I would like to say , to have dedicated staff that Forest Hill has, deserves recognition. As looking after some of these patients requires a certain dedication.

I will say well done staff - you're doing a great job.

Despite what has been shared by the press and all over social media I felt obliged to write about the experience of my family in caring for my 95 year old grandmother. She has dementia and cancer. She has been treated with nothing but the upmost respect and dignity. Having spent a short time in a home in Retford and being placed literally on deaths door we have had an extra full 9 months with her and she’s still doing so well. This is all down to the care and attention she has received from forest hills wonderful staff. We as a family genuinely can’t thank you enough for ensuring our nan is cared for in the best way. It means the world to know she is safe and in good hands.

Many thanks again.

Mum has been a resident at this care home for 15 years now, and we find that it is the most caring and compassionate place. We feel that not only is she cared for in every way, she is also loved. All the staff do everything that they can to keep her happy and we can't ask for more. They give over and above what anyone could expect to our Mum. Especially in these hard times we really appreciate their efforts and understand that they still carry on as normal even though they must be stressed and exhausted. Thanks again for everything you do. from Henryk and Christine

The pictures don't do us justice. We have just recently had a full referbishment through out the home. We have a beautiful, relaxed, family atmosphere. One in which I am proud to be part of. We cater for individuals with complex needs and can proudly say we adopt a person centred approach to every aspect of our residents daily living, needs, wishes and preferences. I feel very privileged to be able to support the individuals i do and feel proud to be part of a fantastic team. Bring on 2019 as we plan to hold on to our outstanding rating again this year.

The residents would have a better standard of care, and greater quality of life, if the building was derelict and without staff. Horrific, inhumane environment. Simply despicable. I’ve seen homeless people maintain better hygiene, and receive more respect than the residents receive here.

Would you deem this as good care? I think NOT. They force this old lady to eat meat when she is in fact vegetarian. They ignore complaints and the service they provide their residents is disgusting! DO NOT send loved ones to this care home. Picture says it all. Poor women has dementia. Its my friends mother in law.
