Absolutely shocking. Disorganised, lack of effective management, coordinators and managers keep changing every few months, many leave after only after a few days or weeks .
Avail breach the rights of their vulnerable clients. They don't know the difference between clients who have mental capacity and those who do. They don't inform their clients of changes in their care and bruptly change rotas and policies without warning or discussion. They just send whoever regardless of if the carer is suitable to the vulnerable clients needs.
They allocate their staff per region and expect that carer to meet the needs of all clients in that region regardless of if they are suitable or not or have the skill to or not. In doing so, they override the principles of person centred care and do not see their clients as individuals. They force clients to have carers who do not meet their needs or who are unsuitable or lack the skill. They force their clients to have carers who mistreat them. They do not take action against mistreatment or adverse incidents and actively send carers who have mistreated or put their clients at risk.
The rota constantly changes. They actively isolate their clients from suitable carers. They send a carer that the client likes and bonds with only to remove them abruptly without explanation a few weeks later or soon after rapport is established. They have no respect for personal autonomy and are in direct breach of the care standards act by not involving clients in their care and breaching their right to choice and control, involvement in their care and the right to autonomy and self determination as well as a say in who cares for them.
They do not clearly outline their policies. They accept new clients when they don't have the staff to meet their needs or accept new clients under false pretences only to renege and change what was agreed, the client is now dependent on them as a sole provider and they use this to do what they want knowing the client has no other option. Because of this I would say they exploit the bulnerarand have no respect for their service users viewing them as mere profit generators.
My biggest concern is that they lie, twist facts and falsify documentation.
They have a very high turnover of staff unlike any company I've ever seen. They can't keep their staff long term because of how they treat them. Carers are told they have to work even when they're ill. They are phoned and coerced on their days off to cover shifts. They pay a poor minimum wage and no mileage which is unsustainable and one reason many end up leaving.
They employ many young adults 19-21 yearolds because they can pay them less than more mature experienced carers.
They don't provide any training for their staff, many don't have formal care skills training or qualifications.
Overall a poor service. I would strongly suggest finding an alternative and spare yourself and your loved one from the pain and destructive influence of such an uncaring, disconpassionate and incompetent provider. They must change their sloga from "we DO care" because they truly DO NOT.
It's worth mentioning that the two other "positive" reviews here were written by company employee's and are not reflective of true service users opinions or experiences. It might be worth considering what that says about Availl.
