Midwifes are great when you can actually get in to see them your given an appointment but made to wait every time for 30-40 minutes there's a notice in there states you may not be seen in order so basically you could be waiting 30 minutes someone can come in say they have an appointment for there time and get seen before you! Made me late for work twice now. Because of the wait it's a joke really. Should be seen in a fair order not and unfair order.

It was smooth as butter. My first visit for blood test and midwife appointment. The receptionist lady was also very kind calm and understanding. I wend 15mins early to my appointment time and i was called in at dot my scheduled appointment time. The premise was neat and clean. However, when there would be lots of pple visiting, it might not be easy to get your urine sample as there is only one washroom for female and one for men. Although, it was quick for me due to less pple standing in queue. The medical team taking my test were also very kind, softspoken and jolly. I was not comfortable with injections, so they kept talking with me and kept me distracted and comfortable. It's was really Good experience ?

This is long but required for true detailed feedback.

So I had a midwife appointment today (1.5.24) at Aston Pride to weigh my baby to ensure she maintained a good weight. I tried to call all morning (up until I had to actually attend my appointment at 1430) to let them know that the health visitor actually came to visit me yesterday (30.4.24) and has already weighed my baby.

I wanted to call to ask if I was still required to attend as that slot could have been utilised for someone else (and it would save me a journey with a 3 weeks old baby). No one answered the phone, infact, it never rang indicating to me that the line could potentially be out of use.

When I ring the number, it cuts off/hangs up straight away, this was very frustrating. I have attempted very often to no avail.
I honestly felt that the receptionist had unplugged the phone, therefore when I arrived for my appointment, I decided to ring the number to witness whether the phone rang or not. It didn’t. My thoughts still stands that I honestly think the receiptionist unplugged the phone. I just want to express that I indeed had the correct number so it wasnt a error on my part.

The midwife was pleasant and inform me that I didn’t really have to attend this appointment as my baby was already weighed yesterday which was a little annoying. I am now luckily discharged from this health center. - I still attended today as felt responsible to still arrive.

As a staff nurse myself, I found this appalling on the receptionist part and I honestly feel sorry for those who has to try and make contact with this health center.

Quick note:
I did not have a text message or a letter to inform me of my very first appointment at Aston Pride to see the midwife. The receptionist called me the day before to let me know. Initially I thought the call was a scam as the receptionist was not understandable. I eventually realised he asked me if I had a appointment with them. I refused to give him any of my details as I honestly thought the phone call was a scam. I made him give me my details in which then I believed it was a genuine phone call. Honestly I find it strange that they called me the day before to inform me of my appointment as I could have had other appointments planned.

Ultimately, my bad experience is mainly with the receptionist aspect. They didn’t seem very professional, communication was poor and the lady receptionist was recording something that was on her work computer screen onto her phone.
On the other hand, I suppose it’s a nice little job if anyone was to work as a receptionist in this health center as it seems very laid back.

As usual, reception are the problem… they seem to with hold basic facilities. On arrival I was told I need to give a sample of urine so was passed a narrow tube. As a woman, it’s difficult to aim into a tube, so I asked for some sort of cup. I was advised they don’t have anything. I then asked for gloves as I did not want to urinate on my hand. First I was told they don’t have any, then that they don’t usually give them. I insisted and said I don’t want to urinate on my hand and then reluctantly was passed a cup. Now was that so hard?!

Worst health centre ever! The services they provide, the way everything is really bad. Specially a midwife called Jen or Jant she is so rude it was my worst experience ever with a midwife in my pregnancy and gave me more stress because of her unrespectful behaviour!!
Not recommended at all!

They do not update their records as a responsibilities and create the struggle for the maternity ladies. Couple of times they sent the SMS for appointments and when you arrived there they said sorry. You Do not have appointment today
It is automatically message. Why They Did not updated the record once baby has delivered. I would specially recommend that they must train the staff on technology and apologies to patients .people are wasting their time and money and they are replying very proudly and do not change their staff or working pattern
careless service from the staff
