I have been a patient at Askern medical practice for a number of years, personally I have no major issue's with the practice, the only problem I have is that cannot get through to make an appointment, if they could sort that minor glitch out things would be much better, I generally see Dr Dempsey, and I am more than happy with the medical support I receive from him, I would recommend Mr.Kumars practice. I have tried many times to contact this practice to book an appointment. Usual storylines, cant get through. Waiting on a call 45 minutes to be told now places available or the line cuts off. Contact staff have the power to decide if the pain your suffering. Suffering with is bad enough to see the Dr. They even black consultants advice to see GP with words like well we do things differently at this practice they are OBSTRUCTIVE and?....

I'm absolutely livid ! Howvon earth can you trust a practice that:
Firstly wouldn't make me an appt for a wound check after majory surgery, it needed one 7 days after, they offered 18 days after! Then when given an appt it was cancelled 30 mins prior, told the practioner was elsewhere. Had to try and call back to rearrange the appt. FFS then on hold forc30 minutes no answer. I've contacte my consultant and the hospital to report this. It's so sub standard. Utterly disappointed. However theres nothing I can do!! Whos going to check if my leg is ok? Dr. Zhivago?

I can not stress enough how bad this surgery is. Not one particular doctor who actually seems to care, but the rest of them. Especially the receptionists and appointment bookers. They are rude, awkward and totally careless with regards to people’s health. After requesting an appointment for my elderly disabled mother over 7 times on a call, the receptionist point blankly refused to book her in with her GP of over 15 years. The receptionist who I’m sure is not medically qualified, decided that it wasn’t a GP appointment that my mother needed and would only book in with a nurse. I am taking this matter further and have contacted my local MP and asked for the practice manager to call me back (they didn’t call). After reading some of the comments on here, it is clear that we are all experiencing the same thing. I suggest more people contact PALS and their local MP or this lack of care will continue. I am leaving the surgery soon, and it can’t come quick enough. If you are looking for a new doctors surgery STAY CLEAR OF ASKERN MEDICAL PRACTICE!

Got given a telephone appointment at this practice by the call centre staff who said there was no face to face appointments available so I awaited my phone call. Appointment time passed but as it said telephone appointment times are approximate I wasn’t too concerned.
I then received a text saying I had not attended my appointment. To my confusion I rang the practice who said they don’t even do telephone appointments and the appointment was put down as a face to face!! Absolutely fuming about this. Been laid up in bed with suspected strep A and there is nothing they can do until tomorrow!! I will be making a formal complaint about the whole group practice as I needed some medication today! Diabolical service from the call centre staff who are clearly incompetent in arranging an appointment. If I could leave zero stars I would!

Absolutely abysmal. If you can avoid using this surgery then do! They're enraging. The doctor (renamed Doctor Google) is useless, the receptionists are rude, unhelpful and generally just snotty. If you're "lucky" enough to get an appointment after being cut off/on hold for up to an hour or more, you're either sat waiting ages because the receptionists don't check you in or if it's a phone consult, well it's more likely to be a cold day in hell than it is to actually receive your phone consult. Complaints are brushed off and ignored "we'll get back to you within 21 days", yeah right. I've got more appalling experiences with this surgery than I care to count. They don't give a flying F about their patients. Oh, and they can't blame covid because they were naff before that. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Thankfully 111 is a great service and has come to the rescue on several occasions, "thanks" to this dire state of a surgery. Terrible.

Impossible to telephone the practice even holding for 30 plus minutes.
This problem has increased because of the increased amount of telephone consultations and the practice seems to have only one line. We have abandoned trying to telephone and journey to the surgery to speak to someone on the intercom however that too failed today. My wife spent 20 minutes this morning, at the door but could not get anyone to answer.
One bright spot.......Doctor Dempsey is top class.
