It is difficult to watch the decline of a loved one whilst trying to portray a positive attitude to everyone around you.
Home caring leads to much frustration for both the carers and those being cared for, neither want to be in the position they find themselves, nor can they see an end to it.
To then not to be able to offer that care leads to a feeling of initial guilt and helplessness, and a feeling of isolation and anxiety for the one for whom you have expended so much love and care for.
However, Mum being taken into care was a blessing.
We were able to become so much closer as a family, and relationships returned to those that are intended.
She was no longer ‘someone’ we just cared for, we were no longer carers.
Caring was provided by specialists, and what a wonderful job they did, keeping Mum safe and comfortable to her final day and letting her pass with peace and dignity.

My mum has only been with Ashwood for a few months and I have to say my sister and I are happy with the care she has been receiving. My mum seems happy and healthy. It did take time for her to settle which is understandable after being in her own home for many years. Whilst she was at home we could not get her to eat or have a shower now the carers are doing what we couldn't do! She is happy, dancing and has a shower!! No one can look after your mum the way you would but as long as people care its means a lot.... she seems happy and that is so important to us. The carers are lovely and caring and we thank them for the kindness to our mum🙏🏼 Thank you x

This afternoon I went to watch a brilliant singer and watching all the residents joining in singing clapping it was wonderful and afterwood they had a stunning buffet all credit to the wonderful staff management and activity organiser all I can say is thank you so much for the care you give love to you all ❤️

Very rude, unprofessional and inappropriate behaviour by the administrator, was told off on my kids, very disappointed. Had to find another place for my grandad
