A little bit of Black history that although I’ve lived in the North East all my life I knew nothing about Arthur Wharton or the Centre until I attended a function held at the centre. I was blown away by the information I gathered & beyond impressed at the work & research Shaun Campbell had unearthed & then presented to various dignitaries, the Local Authority & Darlington Football Club in securing the memory & achievement of Arthur Wharton. I would definitely recommend a visit should you be in the area or have an interest in Football or Black History. Shaun is a great ambassador for the cause & has worked relentlessly to bring this story to the attention of many people including famous sporting figures across the country. Well done Shaun & the team who help keep the centre as 1 of the places to visit in Darlington.

First visit to see this wonderful foundation. What a treat. I had a great time and gave Shaun plenty to think about as my great grandfather " Manny" Harbron was Arthur Wharton's trainer and mentor in the 1880 's.
Lots of fascinating chat went on for a few hours.
Really enjoyable to say the least.
