I noticed the average reviews here and wanted to put forward my recent experience. I had some test results abroad and wanted to discuss with my GP upon returning from travels. I was seen very quickly, new tests were arranged. The nursing team were great. Dr Sutherland was professional. She really took the time to explain my test results. It really put my mind at ease after a few months of anxiety. Also, the press to call back feature is very useful.

A good surgery that's let down by having some very strange approaches to handling appointments.

Oddly you have to ring on the morning and hope you get through in time can get a slot on the day.

Booking a routine appointment is impossible. And getting to see the same doctor is out of the question, this makes it very difficult if you have ongoing issues as you are constantly having to bring them up to speed. Not everything we need to see a doctor for is urgent either (but we do need to see someone about). I'd be happy to wait a few weeks and see the right person.

The docs tend to be good, and can sometimes go above and beyond. But likewise we have had some really bad experiences.

We've ended up in Warwick A&E on numerous occasions after having to call 111 because we missed out on appointments or ended up speaking to someone who wasn't great.

The above is all genuine feedback and I hope they take it constructively.
I'm guessing it's not the fault of the surgery but they would better serve Kenilworth if they had a more effective way of booking appointments. The sooner they switch to a better way of managing these, the better. The NHS app allows you to book blood tests, why not allow this for appointments too?

I’ve been coming to this practice my entire life and honestly the nurses there are amazing.

I’ve had need to go in more frequently lately and the quality of care I’ve experienced from the staff as been great and today was no exception to that high standard of care.

Today my Nurse was Lisa Edward and she was fantastic. You got the impression from her that her primary focus on making sure I was comfortable and treated with respect and a courtesy. Whilst just also delivering a personalised and very human touch.

Thanks for being there for us.

Why is it that the main nhs medical centres has advised the NHS that Kenilworth doesn’t need any additional facilities… that it can cope with the increased housing developments, which means additional facilities won’t be built to support new residents. Yet, trying to get an appointment with Abbey Medical Centre is so difficult….

I’d like to add… following the reply from the practice…. The link posted doesn’t work and you haven’t responded to the fact that you (the practice) have obstructed the introduction of new practices by advising the NHS that you can service all the new residents of the town.

I feel bitterly disappointed with this practice-it really failed my elderly mother. It does not deserve ‘outstanding’. No doctor or nurse from the practice ever came out to see my mum even though she was house bound, on her own and very frail. There’s a total lack of communication and coordination between the different agencies-hospital, district nurses and GP. Receptionists are not always very helpful and don’t seem to know what services are available to help vulnerable, frail patients. A total indictment on our care services. Think before you register here.

Appalling service. My auntie was messed about and tried to walk about with her hip out of it's socket for over 7 months. No follow up when she finally got it operated on and came out of hospital. She was promised phone calls back but they never came. Had to go in myself and insist on a district nurse to go out and see her as she is housebound.

I would say as a medical practice go, these are brilliant
- are they under pressure? Yes
- can you get a same day appointment ? Yes
- do you have to ring repeatedly to get through and wait on hold to get an appointment? Yes

However, talking to family members in other parts of the country we are blessed to have this fairly efficient service available to us. The staff at reception can be under pressure sometimes when speaking to them, but be appreciative of this but to be seen by great medical practitioners afterwards. Well done to everyone here for the service they offer us...

I had an appointment with a lovely Nurse called Jo recently for a routine test. I suffer from very bad health anxiety but she was the most patient, kind and reassuring person I've ever dealt with, explaining things in full and suggesting further help. Her kindness was incredible and she really is an asset to the surgery, such a lovely and kind nature but also extremely professional. I really couldn't thank her enough.
