We loved everything about The Ollerod. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. The staff are all delightful, charming and most helpful. Unfortunately we were unable to dine in and make the most of the skills in the kitchen, but dinner smelt amazing! I would love to come back for another stay

Stayed one night for a wedding nearby. We had a ground floor room No5 that overlooked the car park but as we arrived late and really only slept ate breakfast and left it was the perfect room for us. I assume if you were staying longer you might prefer another room, but it’s an old building so not every room has the garden view obviously. Bed was very comfortable, lined of good quality and nice selection of pillows and big towels. Bathroom spotless and spacious. Tea and coffee facilities were excellent and the homemade shortbread was a nice addition. The receptionist who checked me in insisted on carrying my bag which was lovely and returned with fresh milk for a late night cup of tea. Breakfast was delicious I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and asked for black pudding. Husband had the full Monty and lots of fresh toast. I would stay there again, helpful staff, beautiful gardens and spotlessly clean.

A lovely place which such an amazing team! We were well looked after celebrating our first wedding anniversary and the crispy lionsmane mushroom dish at the restaurant was one of the best I have ever had! We had the most perfect stay.

We went for a drink this lunchtime. As we approached a cosy corner table (one napkin and a knife and fork and no reserved sign) the barman bawled at us from the other end of the bar ‘That’s set for lunch!’ It was an incredibly rude and disrespectful way to deal with their customers. I was shocked into quickly choosing another table. A strangely unpleasant experience. |We did order drinks - a small and disappointing martini and a Campari spritz with hardly any Campari. |We live locally but won’t risk it again.

Our room was spacious, nice decor, good bed linen, great shower. Lovely building. All looked well on arrival. Unfortunately the room is next to the laundry room one side, the kitchen store/washroom the other, so people in and out and the strong smell of fabric softener, not the worse smell but overpowering.. Staff also talk outside the room where they enter the kitchen.|One blind wouldn’t close (cord broken) , one window pane cracked and coffee machine wasn’t working properly..Nice biscuits in room though and thankfully Clipper tea. To stop people seeing in room we had to close a curtain but that made room very dark. Cars back almost to touching distance of room windows to park so lots of noise of wheels on gravel and car doors shutting, at both ends of day. One divan had a mattress that sank in middle. Great topper on bed but it didn’t make up for a very soft/squidgy mattress. We were woken in the morning by someone very heavy footed above us. The sound really carries. I really would not have chosen this room, had I known. It wasn’t worth the money. |Breakfast was not very exciting and unbelievably we had better at a Premier inn, very recently, where everything was fresh to order and service very friendly.. The continental section needed refilling. We were not asked if we wanted toast. When we asked, it came as two soggy slices flat on a plate - the cheapest quality bread, poorly toasted. The coffee was not great, served in a dirty jug and poorly filtered. It goes like that when the filter needs replacing. Sausage and bacon tasted as if they had been cooked earlier and reheated or kept warm. My egg was a bit congealed.|Service was basic. While we ate breakfast workmen were smoking and chatting in the conservatory the other side of the glass where we were sat. |We had booked this for a special occasion and it didn’t deliver for the money paid. I’ve reviewed the restaurant separately.

The ambience and setting was very good. Service was fine but the food was really not up to the standard we had expected. My husband's starter was supposed to be a crab fritter but was so overwhelmed by the accompanying gloop that you would not have known there was any crab there. My son's lamb was mostly fat which had not been properly rendered and there was very little meat in his portion. |I mentioned these things to the receptionist as we were leaving but she did not apologise and seemed very blase about it. I wrote to the Ollerod to let them know but did not receive a reply.|It was particularly disappointing as it was a significant birthday celebration.

Superb lunch at The Ollerod. Great service all at a reasonable price. We thoroughly recommend it and looking forward to a return visit. The presentation of all the dishes was superb and full of flavour. We had not been to the Ollerod before and it exceeded our expectations.
