I arrived this afternoon with my Mum who has started blacking out and had collapsed this morning.
The receptionist was amazing, really kind , caring and got Mum straight on to a ward.
Then the the nurse was great, he listened to all the worries I had about Mum and he was very thorough and sweet with Mum.
The doctor was outstanding, kind , caring and done everything she could for Mum.
She was hoping to be able to explain to Mum what had been found at Mums recent cancer scan as she's been confused lately and didn't understand the information they updated her with on the phone but unfortunately it wasn't on a system she could access (different hospital) but still was able to reassure Mum it hadn't spread to the brain like her symptoms were suggesting so a massive weight lifted .

We were on holiday in Pill and my husband fell. The paramedics arrived very promptly and he was assessed. It was considered he should have an X-ray so he was taken to Bristol Hospital, He was seen immediately and saw all the appropriate medical staff very quickly. After having an X-ray he was told he didn’t need an operation but had a chipped bone. He was given painkillers and told what to do. We had fantastic treatment from start to finish. Very impressive especially as we were not from the area.

I had a fantastic experience today at the A&E, then A609 ward and then with and ENT specialist. I came in after a GP referral with a strong pain in my throat and barely able to speak. The staff were all very professional, but most importantly very empathetic and accommodating. I ended up spending several hours with different teams whilst different procedures were administered, but all members of staff did their absolute best to ensure I was as comfortable as possible! Sadly, I only remembered the nurse Rachel’s name from A&E, but everyone who worked with me today were absolutely wonderful! I ended up being provided with some food after the final treatment and discharged home the same day feeling much better then I came in initially, and with a properly explained course of further treatment and all necessary medication provided. Thank you for your great service everyone!

P.S. a recommendation for the hospital overall - it would be nice to have emergency phone charges for patients available on the wards, as I didn’t expect to be admitted and my phone died pretty quickly, so I couldn’t contact my family. Luckily, I notified my husband beforehand which ward I was admitted to, so he came to pick me up after work and brought a charger with him.

I had a scooter accident and a bad nosebleed. I hit my head with a van. I probably broke my nose or cartilage. I have had headaches for two weeks, my nose hurts and for the last two days my nose has been bleeding. I called my GP and they told me to go immediately for a head scan. In the hospital a young woman after a few seconds of talking refused to let me have my head scanned... I think this lady has an MRI in her eyes... I will get tested privately. I hope I do not have a blood clot in my nose or concussion and someone will fix my nose. I wasted 5 hours waiting for an incompetent doctor. No regards. Zero stars

I arrived at A&E yesterday morning at 6am and was seen within half an hour after struggling to swallow and talk. I was given effective anti inflammatories and steroids very quickly and the nurses who treated me were very patient and reassuring regarding my phobia of needles. I was admitted upstairs where I waited to see the ENT, who was incredibly helpful and made sure I was diagnosed correctly. After being fed to make sure I could eat, I was discharged with antibiotics and painkillers. All members of staff were incredibly kind, reassuring and thorough when dealing with me. Although it took awhile for each process I cannot fault this as after all it is a hospital and many others may have needed quicker treatments than I!! I can only be grateful for my treatment while here 🙂

Sat in the waiting room last night for nearly 7 hours after being sent directly to the hospital by an overnight care team with concerns I might have a bad infection after an outpatient surgery. The waiting room was full of homeless people causing patients distress, sick bowls on tables left there for hours, chairs completely broken, rubbish everywhere, once it hit 3am a lot of people left but the waiting time went up by 6 hours, making that a 10-12 hour wait time. Some elderly folk had been there since 7pm the night before, when I was seen I expressed my issues & concerns and informed the triage nurse I’d been sent by a specialist overnight GP. The nurse was rude and did not test for anything, only my blood sugar which I had readily available for them as I have a CGM, sent me back out to the waiting room. I did not feel safe being there as a woman on my own and couldn’t relax or rest because of this. At 6:30am I spoke to the receptionist and said due to feeling unsafe in the environment I think I want to go home. I’m now being told again I should head to A&E because I’m still showing signs of an infection but I highly doubt my concerns will be taken seriously as last night I was completely left in the dark. I understand the NHS is struggling but the environment was unhygienic and the amount of homeless people causing other people distress was highly unpleasant. This isn’t my first time at BRI, I had major problems the last time I was sent there with inpatient care and the lack of bedside manner some of the staff had, finding it completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I was unable to be discharged for 4 days last year because there weren’t any doctors available. Going to BRI on a weekend is obviously risky, but I’ve been there enough times that I know during the week it’s just as bad. People shouldn’t be left without pain relief for 10 hours plus and it was really shocking seeing people just being left like that.

Whilst visiting your lovely city of Bristol on Saturday 27 July, I was unfortunate enough to find myself requiring urgent medical attention. I attended the A & E department where they quickly provided some pain killers whilst they noted all the relevant details. I was seen by the Senior House Doctor (at least that is what I think is the position she holds) who was very professional whilst being clearly caring, sympathetic and reassuring. She carried out an examination and arranged for further examination by the radiography team who were equally professional and understanding. When the doctor had received all the reports she decided on the appropriate treatment and this was duly dispensed in the Observation Ward by the equally caring nurse. The treatment was successful I am pleased to report. The Doctor came to see me to discharge me and gave me a full report to pass to my local surgery team that will be treating me this week. I cannot speak highly enough of the Doctor nor her team that I came in contact with. They are all deserving of praise and recognition. I hope that they see this review and in some small way it demonstrates my gratefulness for their hard work.
