to balance out the reviews... the NHS can be difficult to deal with sometimes, and getting an appointment was hard work at first. But after the initial contact, they got me in very quickly. The practitioner I saw was superb - genuine, caring, respectful, thorough and explanatory. Thank you, I appreciate it

Needed to book an appointment and tried ringing the number given several times but could never get through and eventually gave up. This is a truly dreadful 'service' which is not fit for purpose. I just have no idea what to try next.

Haha - have looked at other reviews saying it's impossible to make an appointment, so just don't bother to try. The clinic has responded to several similar complaints with the same stereotyped excuses, but no commitment to set up a system that actually works. Utterly useless and pathetic.

Went in to have my implant changed at Cossham via Unity and the service from start to finish was excellent. The two ladies on reception were very friendly and efficient. There was clear signage to find my way around the hospital and a nice little coffee shop inside while waiting on my appointment. The sexual health nurse Julie W. who changed my implant for me was absolutely lovely. She made me feel completely at ease and even when the implant was proving tricky to remove she was persistent and made sure I wasn't in any pain. After a successful removal and new implant insertion she gave clear instructions on the aftercare. Julie W made a big difference in making a usually unpleasant appointment very comfortable indeed. Thank you Julie!

Went to the sexual health centre to get back on the contraceptive pill. During this appointment with Julie W, she mentioned that she could take care of my smear test for me in a couple of weeks time (which I had been procrastinating doing). Two weeks later and Julie W again makes quite a nerve-wracking appointment almost pleasant with how lovely, relaxing and professional she is. Thank you so much Julie!!

(PSA: the front desk initially told me weeks ago they couldn't perform smear tests, which is clearly false - this should change as sometimes going to a GP for this procedure is a massive block for women trying to get an appointment!)

I was here recently to get my implant removed. The check in was quick and the lady on reception was friendly. After having a bad experience with one of the nurses a few years ago, I was glad to be seen by Louise, one of the sexual health nurses, as she was very chatty and didn't seem to rush me with my questions. Despite having a bit of difficulty removing it, she constantly checked I wasn't in pain and got her colleague, Sharon, to assist her - who was also lovely!

Took 45 minutes to get through to someone and then the receptionist wouldn’t listen to me and kept trying to find a reason to not let me get a STI test. Incredibly insensitive and I can only imagine how the people who are coming for more serious and scary reasons feel when trying to get an appointment.

An absolutely brilliant service from start to finish. You'll need to be a little patient initially to get triage and then to get a face to face appointment but this is down to a service that is under pressure and not the fault of the staff. Don't panic, you'll get the treatment you need! Once I was in the system I was cared for so well by the very kind and non judgemental staff there until my issue was sorted out. Thank you so much to the staff of Unity.

After multiple attempts to try and get in contact I am still shocked as to how this organisation is even still running.
I have been trying to get in contact with this service over the last few days for the purposes of a serious medical treatment that is needed.
Yet again there is no way to get through on the phone to anyone.
And yet again there is absolutely no way online to be able to book an appointment to see someone.
I left an awful review for this organisation last year and it seemed that was the only way i was ever going to be able to speak to anyone directly...which is completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
I am in serious need of an emergency appointment and with very little other options to reach for I have yet again been left hanging in the dark by unity sexual health services.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.
