I’ve been with Gloucester Road for 5 years now and I’ve always had a great experience with them.

Booking appointments has been easy. All of the receptionists, nurses and doctors have been very helpful and keen to resolve the issue. The facilities are also pleasant.

I went to A&E last Wednesday night with bad chest pain and palpitations and after a 9 and a half hour wait, I walked out due to that wait after not being seen by a doctor. I got told by an A&E nurse to make a GP appointment that day so I rang the surgery up that day to try and get an same day appointment, only to get an on call doctor to ring me and to tell me that they can’t give me an appointment due to the blood tests the nurses at the hospital did. I was still getting really bad chest pain and palpitations, even on the phone to the doctor.

They offered me appointments for 8:30am the for Tuesday this week but told them I can’t do it as it’ll make me last for work. I told them time and time again that I couldn’t do a morning appointment as it’ll make me late for work. I said I can have an appointment for today (23/9/24) or Thursday but said they won’t do it.

The doctor I spoke to seemed very uptight and obnoxious about my symptoms. I told them if I collapsed, I’d be blaming someone as I never got seen by a doctor. They said that they thought I wouldn’t collapse, I thought, ‘how would you know that without examining me?’

I felt very uncared for and pushed away from finding out the root cause of my symptoms last week. It’s lucky that the chest pain has died down on its own.

This has made me loose faith in the NHS and now I have submitted an application to another GP surgery.

A large, well equipped GP’s surgery with on-site pharmacy. I was seen by a very friendly nurse for a health MOT. Very easy to chat to, efficient and helpful. Simple to get an appointment (it wasn’t urgent so I was able to book ahead to a convenient time).

Really great doctors who listen and take your concerns seriously. Really great check in system and relatively easy to book appointments and follow ups. I think they’re doing an incredible job in a challenging time for healthcare.

Another very positive experience with the practice, the staff (including receptionists, nurses and GPs) go above and beyond to accommodate my disabled child’s needs.

Front desk staff are always rude and unhelpful. Most recently I was on the phone for 40+ minutes trying to sort out a prescription for urgent medicine. I was given incorrect information regarding the status of my repeat prescription which was later verified by the pharmacy. When I challenged the incorrect information I was met with hostility, put on hold and spoken too very sarcastically by the receptionist and in an extremely condescending manner, they even hung up the call forcing me to rejoin the back of the que and wait prolonging this terrible interaction. Very frustrating when you are suffering due to a serious medical issue. They don’t seem to care much about the person on the other end of the line, and are more interested in their own self preservation. Not a good look for a customer facing medical practise. Top tip: Try treating people how you would like to be treated and that might just end up being the case.

I've been with this surgery for years with variable service. But this evening I have been blown away by a member of the reception team (sadly I forgot to ask her name) who remembered speaking to me several days ago when I wanted to book an appointment with a popular doctor. She has just called me to book me into a cancellation appointment. Amazingly 'on it' and thoughtful!
