Disgrace to the NHS, with exception to some of the nursing staff in A & E. 6 hrs to see a doctor then another 5 to get a room. There were pensioners with bandaged head wounds sat waiting for hours. No concept of triage. Stuck on a drip for 14 hours in a room with no privacy on the main A & E walkway, one nurse couldn’t be bothered to properly move an iv machine so she just stuffed it in the bed in a way that made me rip my iv out. Stuffed in a room at the very end of the ward with little staff attention, and because I self discharged (which I was told I could do when feeling better) I’ve now found out that they’ve cancelled medicines I was prescribed there, which is something I was not told about.

Absolute disgrace of a hospital. I’ve been twice for an abscess that needed draining, but because the surgeon couldn’t be bothered to come in on a Sunday I was given the run around and sent to Sunderland where I waited for over 5 hrs. Do not attend this hospital if you have something that needs minor surgery as you’ll just be fobbed off somewhere else.

Took my 13 year old daughter to A&E as advised by urgent care, as 111 had made a mistake with the appointment. My daughter has suspected broken foot/ankle. Stood behind sign which stated to wait until called. Receptionists paid no attention, laughing and carrying on. Eventually we were called over. Information was taken from one side of the desk, then we were asked to go to other to be booked in. This next receptionist was a disgrace, she asked questions in which I answered. The asked where the incident took place, I turned to my daughter as I had not been there when the incident took place, her dad had been, to ask her where she had played her match, for the receptionist to rudely shout "Hello" at me. I looked at her and told her I was in the middle of asking my daughter this, in which the receptionist then changes her tune. Extremely rude and disgusting behaviour. My 13 year old daughter was shocked at the manner in which I was spoken to. If you don't like your job, move on. Do not be rude to patients and do not speak to them in this manner. Why are staff, getting away with this kind behaviour. I will be looking at travelling to Sunderland or Newcastle from now on. We have never had a good experience on any occasion at this hospital.

If they chilled out on the tea and coffee. Most of the staff treat the place like a gossip shop.maybe had more than 1 doctor it would not take 6 hours to be seen. Save the NHS Confiscated the tea and coffee. And then you may be able to reduce the wait times and save money and have another doctor.

The worst hospital ever. I had fluid in my lung and they made me sit there for 5 hours before seeing a nurse and then a further 3 hours before seeing a doctor, for them just to say they thought it was a kidney stone. I was in so much pain that I almost fainted and I was told to get a glass of water myself. I was discharged the following morning and I went home to my local hospital and was properly treated. This hospital then called me back 2 weeks later to say they actually spotted something on the x-ray and wanted me to come back. If I had waited that long i probably wouldn’t be alive now…

A&e are the biggest joke ever better off rubbing dirt in to a broken arm then go there elderly mother spent two days there in agony, laziness in staff who preferred there phones was ment to be there a hour today, took 8hours and a call to my solicitor to get any attention even though there my have required emergency surgery. Ended up giving codeine for the pain absolute joke only got any stars due to Diana and the radio/X-ray (small Geordie with glasses) only one who made my mother feel like anyone cared or was bothered about her and not for her I’d have carried my mother to car and took to a better hospital. Awful no respect for people atall

Arrived Tuesday to the hand clinic to see a surgeon about my hand was taken in that day as needed urgent surgery as the infection was spreading fast within 5 hours was in surgery having my hand flushed out and infected flesh removed after that was placed in ward the staff where totally great all of them. Always helpful with pain care always a nurse available cannot fault them had to go back to surgery the next day as it was still showing infection but was swiftly dealt with again then back onto the ward was informed what was happening all the way through the process. I was released the next day with meds please understand guys these people work hard and are under staffed and do their best to help others as quickly as possible.

My husband had an out-patients appointment on Friday at 10am. As he was waiting for his transport home, he took a funny turn and collapsed. The staff were marvellous he said and they got him to A&E.
Eventually it was decided to keep him in overnight and he got a bed at about 9pm.
The one thing that is really worrying is that he was not given a cup of tea or a bite to eat in all the time he was in A&E. He is a diabetic!! and they know this. Luckily he had 2 small sandwiches in his bag and a bottle of orange juice. He has learned to be prepared after dozens of hospital visits.
