I understand waiting years for counselling is absolutely unacceptable. However, there is no WAY the counsellors at this place aren’t looking at the waiting list and thinking the same. I waited two years to the day of my assessment, and was assessed six months after the incident. Of course, ridiculous length of time to wait. Instead of leaving half a story on a Google review, ask the government where the funding is. Ask the government where the training for more staff is. During my wait for counselling I was called 3 or 4 times by a staff member to apologise for my wait and to let me know I hadn’t been forgotten about, then when I finally came to the top of the list and started sessions it was all worth it. I could not have dreamed of a better counsellor. Anastasia was patient, intuitive, kind, respectful and I wouldn’t have wanted to go down that horrible road with anyone else. As for my ISVA, Joanne was attentive, helpful, efficient and really respectful also. She did everything she could and I’m so so grateful to both her and Anastasia for getting me through it all. Sure the phone lines are sometimes a nightmare to get though and the wait times are grim but that’s on the NHS and the government and Boris’s £800 a roll wallpaper. The only thing I’d say is that sometimes professionalism lacks slightly in some of the other staff, not in the two staff I mentioned whatsoever but some others, however it was a situation that was specific to me and my experiences. That little sour taste aside, I’m forever thankful to this place and I’d not be where I am today without them. If you’re waiting a millennia for your counselling just pick up the phone? Number’s right there on the website.

Compassionate and caring .
When you have to unfortunately ring up if not being dealt with by the police your call will be taken by an answering service . They will then ask one of the team to ring you back .
All of the team are trained in this area and will take you step by step through what will happen .
Some waiting may be needed but persevere. You couldn't be in better hands.
If it is decided for you to come in a time will be given . It is tricky to find if you are dropped off at the main hospital but the staff will give you directions.
And 💚if you or family do need to use this service x

4 years on, and I am still waiting on the counselling I was promised in 6 months. No contact from my ISVA, no support, no help. It's small wonder so many women drop cases when they are promised support that never comes

This is an absolutely incredible place with amazing staff who go above and beyond. Every step of the way they support and care for you in an extremely sensitive and understanding manner, often with difficult circumstances. I couldn’t have asked for any more, an absolute credit to Manchester. Thank you.

One of the nicest sexual health clinics I’ve been to, very compassionate, patient and lovely staff, they didn’t make me feel ashamed or embarrassed to be there and honestly, I wish more people had better experiences in places like this

This place is awful. I was told I would be called one day and wasn't, and didn't get any contact at all for 6 weeks when I got a off-hand "sorry I didn't call you back" email. It's what I've come to expect from the NHS and everyone involved in the case. It's clear I'm expected to go this alone
