The doctors,nurses and ancillary staff here are a credit to the NHS
The primary care and secondary outpatient care was excellent everything seemed very organised
The parking situation is a bit hit and miss especially during peak visiting times give yourself plenty of time to find a space or use the park and ride
It's a sprawling place but there are maps everywhere and staff are willing to give directions security is good so strangers don't wander onto the wards

What can I say about Morris Ward and the staff of this hospital?Porters, care assistants, kitchen and catering staff, nurses, doctors, technicians and consultants, (and not forgetting Charles the Chaplain) all were wonderful to me during my time there. Professionalism balanced with total compassion. I was in for much of October and November of 2024 and will never forget what you all did for me.

Let my child out after less than a day. Can't even dress herself so badly injured or barely walk. Been diagnosed as in a psychosis by many mental health professionals, but to get rid of her not have the hassle of sorting somewhere for her to go said shes of sound mind, lucid and can sort it herself. Returned to family clearly still very mentally ill talking of same conspiracy against her, believing she was being recorded and listened to by people not even there (I'm an ex mental health nurse) yet according to the doctor I spoke to "said I've had some psychiatric training and she's fine". Funny that, as emergency meeting been called on her return home with view to sectioning her! Disgusting treatment of people.

Had an appointment with “Das” at the women’s dept. I have had many hospital consultations but have never left one in tears before. I specifically voiced that I was there for a routine appointment and wanted nothing invasive done nor did I want anything done that would require recovery and I had MULTIPLE biopsies taken without warning or consent. Das hurried out of the room before I had a chance to process what happened and left the nurses to break the news to me.

Her attitude was extremely hostile the entire appointment and as someone whose partner and friend group are all doctors/healthcare staff I expected better. They also sent me out multiple referral letters that weren’t mine with other people’s hospital number and personal information on. Avoid this hospital at all costs.

Discharged patient yesterday morning with prescription,
Eventually found outpatients pharmacy,to find out it's closed on bank holidays.
Took discharged patient home (opposite end of notts to city hospital) then went to QMC pharmacy only to be told prescription had someone else's ID sticker would need to go back to the ward.She said it happens a lot.
Didn't fill me confidence.
QMC contacted the ward in advice,on arrival we were given a chair (sign this wasn't going to be a quick pick up)after being asked what medication was on prescription (how should I know )1 hour later received prescription so off back to QMC.
How can a hospital discharge patients with medication only for pharmacy to be closed.
We have had good experiences with city hospital before but you could just not make this one up.

South well ward:
Amazing and sincere staff who take time to listen and understand the patient and family. It is evident that this is more than just a job, everyone went far above the expectations and their duties to make us feel and experience the true meaning of what care is.
A few special mentions:

Athira - always took time to ask how the patient (Faisal) was doing including me (Parent). Extremely polite, kind, attentive and genuine.

Eunice - always greeted me with a smile which was contagious and warming. Very caring and always ensured Faisal had what he needed. Built rapport and remembed details from conversations. Periodically checked in on us and asked if we need anything. Took extra care with responding to our requests and did so swiftly.

Sini- Treated faisal with the upmost respect by talking directly to him and kept him clearly informed in simple terms of what she was doing & explaned why. Made us feel confident in the care and process at every stage.

Sonia - greeted me each time with a smile and eye contact, made me feel valued and always explained each stage of treatment or care that was provided, like Sini, did so in a clear and simple manner.

Thank you to all the staff, you made this difficult time more easier to bear.

Not happy you say your team will call after mdt to inform if my husband is in remission but no call and leaves him upset worrying the cancer is not gone! Do not tell patients things that you are not going to follow through on! its bad patient care!!!

On stirland ward is absolute joke! The Chinese lady on the desk does not listen just tells you! Also cornflakes in a morning is given with warm milk yak you get a desert but no dinner unless you tell the kitchen staff, other staff are very dismissive meds are always late and we have to tell them of the ones they have missed! Wrong drinks given wrong meds given completely and luckily I have my own! Dr said my meds have changed but nurse says you need them so contradictory to each other! Oh and cutlery keep being missed when given food and this is just to name a few things! I am feeling very unlooked after and most certainly not listened to or cared for oh and the staff on desk are very rude with visitors! They don't ask if you need help. Just ignore you and don't look at you unless you prompt them as we know you may be busy.
