Had issues with the GP for a little while, you cannot prebook appointments, so to get an appointment you must call as soon as the lines open (8 AM), trying to get an appointment after around 10 AM is borderline impossible. I called today and was told I would receive a call back later in the morning, no such call happened. Having not had a call back, I called later and was told I could not be booked in and there was no record of my call in the morning - basically whittling down to the receptionist telling me it was their word against mine. This has delayed the process of being seen to by an entire day. Additionally, I was borderline argued with about whether I actually called or not.

What an absolute joke! My gp decided for some reason to change the medication I take for my gout. The new medication I am prescribed is nowhere near as effective so I rang and asked to change it back. Should be simple right? I am told I need to make an appointment to see the doctor face to face. The only way to do this is call at 8am and see if I can manage to get in. Bearing in mind I work full time and mostly away from home this is almost impossible without specifically booking time off work, without any guarantee I’ll even get an appointment anyway. So I manage to get a week day off work and call at literally 8am, to join a queue and eventually speak to someone at 9am to be told they are now fully booked for the day and the only way to get an appointment is to download an app!!! Welcome to 2025 and modern ‘technology’. So I download the app and the app then tells me I need to verify my phone number and email, send a picture of my ID and record a short video of myself!! And they may then verify my account! As if I don’t find this long winded enough myself imagine how difficult this is for older people who aren’t as tech savvy Mate literally wtf I just want to change my medication HOW can it possibly be so long winded?! I’m yet to jump over all these hurdles and through the hoops let alone complete a triathlon of events to even get the app working never mind get an actual appointment…. All this just to change back to a medication I’ve already been prescribed before! Do I even really NEED to see someone face to face for this?! 🤯 bearing in mind I lived in Thailand for a period of time where I can literally buy said medication OVER THE COUNTER!! Our system is soo broken!!

Dr Emma is extremely helpful and listened to you without any judgement whatsoever!

Management and receptionists are always polite and understand your issues over the phone!

I am with Hickings lane Medical Centre more than 3 years. I never had a single incident where I had issue. The GPs and management team are all approachable.

Definitely would recommend to anyone and everyone one if they had issues with previous surgeries or not.
Surgery is always look clean. Thanks to all the team and the Surgery Manager who are putting real work to offer the services to us.
Thank you

I understand some people have had issues with getting appointments, I can't say i have any experience with this, I can comment when i did actually see the assigned Doctor and a second one at the time of my diabetes diagnosis it was all a bit rushed and hurried - I was for over a year refered as a hospital appointments so never had much dealing with the doctors after this, Now i just see a yearly check with the diabetes nurse/s - and i can honestly say they have always been professional, informative and listen to any issues or concerns. My appointments are pre-arranged by the surgery so never had any experience with getting appointments. Renewing medications over the phone has always been easy and done within a few minutes so i have no complaints. Unfortunately i cannot say the same about the pharmacy next to the surgery... i go elsewhere and beyond the scope of this review.

Been with this practice a year now and I cannot grumble about anything. All the doctors, nurses, receptionists and the services in general are fantastic. You can get an appointment quickly, you can park, the waiting room is big and pleasant. I recommend them.

I’ve been with this practice now for many years, and always had a good experience with the GPs and health staff. However I recently attended an appointment with GP J Phillips and was left well impressed. Dr Phillips was very professional, taken time to examine me properly and to explain the root cause of my condition. He wasn’t rushing me and answered all my questions. The practice is very busy and it is difficult to get through to them in the morning to book appointments, but it is the same as everywhere else. Overall 5 stars!

Suzanne on reception is brilliant !
I always notice when she’s not there , as I recently noted . She is always friendly, assertive and helpful.

Emma on reception is also great ! Taking her time to chase up tests etc !

Good reception staff help to get through the first hurdle of going to the gp re appointments , tests and any medical queries so Thank you !

Tried to arrange an appointment for my mum. Convinced the place no longer exists. Impossible to get in contact, no website. Changed her GP in the end and it took less time to do that than the amount of time I wasted trying to contact this place
