Mum went in to Mallard Court just after Christmas- before admission, the staff contacted me to find out about mumโ€™s interests, family and food tastes, which I thought was a nice touch. Mum took a few weeks to settle as she was fiercely independent and thought that she was quite capable of being back in her own home - she wasnโ€™t really as she had a terminal cancer diagnosis, was very frail and had a limited time left. As a family, we were delighted with how well mum was cared for, how her medical needs were met, how clean she (and her room) were kept and how the chef tried to tempt her with personally made meals. Mum did eventually appreciate the care that she was given and the kindness she received. In my opinion, Mallard Court is a very well run care home with some truly lovely and caring staff. Thank you to all of you ๐Ÿ˜Š.

My mum has been at this home for about 6 months. I have to say she loves living at Mallard Court. I find the whole team to be kind, helpful and friendly. My mum always says sheโ€™s in a posh hotel. Mums husband visits most days and the days he canโ€™t visit the staff always ask how he is doing. The staff, nurses and management are really approachable. Mum is well looked after and the activities lady paints her finger nails and involves her in other activities. There are also regular events and activities at the home and a number of open days throughout the year. I recommend anyone who is wondering what a care home is like to visit and see for yourself. I never thought my mum would like living in a home but she loves it, she sees different people everyday and they always have time for a chat, singalong or a bit of banter with my mum, which she loves.

Thank you to all your staff at Mallard Court for looking after Brian until he passed away recently. You were all very kind and caring while giving him the nursing care he needed. He enjoyed chatting with the staff and the standard of care was great. I would recommend Mallard Court to anyone who needs residential care.

This Nursing home is second to none, my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was very ill.
The staff were brilliant carers had time to make mum comfortable and met all her needs the nurses went above and beyond to ensure my mum didn't suffer in pain.
If you want the best care in the area for your loved one, this is it. It's not perfect but comes very close.

Absolutely Appalling! It's not a care facility, if you want your loved one to live DO NOT put them here. It only took them 4 weeks to end my father's life. He was placed here just under a year ago now for a 4 week respite. Having cared for him for 5 years including lockdown , we needed and were able to return to work . Unable to be left at home alone as dad suffered with dementia and mobility. We searched for a suitable and well represented facility. The staff were well aware dad was a 75 year old diabetic with dementia and needed prompting and assistance with hygiene but otherwise was able. He seemed to settle OK which was good as we weren't allowed to visit due to covid restrictions at all for 2 weeks and then only for short periods the last 2 weeks. Dad stopped eating and took very little fluids during this time which we raised concerns over, diabetic medication requiring intake but were advised this was behavioural and nothing needed to be done. By the end of the 3rd week he was much weaker and I was told by one of his nurses that he wanted 'to be with his wife ' my mum died 5 years previous to this ! On my next allowed visit I found dad sat in soaking wet clothes with a very sore mouth and extremely weak. With assistance we got him cleaned up and changed and took him out for some air . We asked that a qualified nurse from the lower floor be brought or doctor called and again advised they'd keep an eye on him. I was made to leave but was promised they would call a doctor. They did and dad was rushed shortly after to hospital where it was found he had Thrush In his mouth and throat so bad he couldn't have swallowed and all the skin on his groin and buttocks had gone due to him being left so long in wet clothes. My dad died the next day. The hospital raised these issues with the medical examiner who then forwarded to the police coroner, who whilst empathising with regards the negligence could not as they must, to proceed , prove criminal intent. We have consistently requested answers from Barchester head office only to be led along waiting and 10 months later provided with a letter full of excuses and apologies but no truths. SO IF YOU CARE DONT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE WITH Barchester care group because they DEFINITELY DON'T ....CARE.

This home deserves no stars and it needs shutting down. No level of care is given. My Grandpops who had dementia and needed 4 weeks of respite care as my parents needed to return to work died from the lack of care this home failed to give him. He left with severe thrush in his mouth and tremendous bed sores on his backside. The care home nurses did not get the on site doctor to visit my Grandpops until my mum insisted on it, he was then subsequently rushed to hospital and died the following day. It took only 4 weeks of neglect to his needs and he died. The hospital raised safeguarding issues and we as a family will keep pushing for justice for my Grandpops. Whatever you do please donโ€™t use this home.

I would not trust this establishment with my loved ones. Following investigations into how my Grandfather may have been neglected during his stay and safeguarding issues which were raised by the hospital when he arrived, the care he received which should have been respite (holiday care) led to his life ending after a 4 week stay.
