Following a recommendation from 111 due to breathlessness that I should get to the hospital within the hour, going through the required steps to diagnose my issues I was admitted last Saturday with a severe Pulmonary Embolism.

Some patient behaviour I saw was pretty bad, preventing these carers from doing their jobs properly and thus making their lives more stressful than they already are.

The A&E team Friday night/Saturday morning were exceptional as were the various shifts within AAU (where I was being cared for) excellent team of support staff, cleaners, catering etc too.

I am very happy with the treatment I had at Bedford Hospital

I am writing this review to warn others about my devastating experience under the care of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr. Sameer Singh at Bedford Hospital. What I went through was not just poor service — it was a failure of basic medical ethics, human dignity, and professional responsibility.

From October 2024 through April 2025, I suffered repeated cancellations, ignored scan requests, zero aftercare, and a level of dismissiveness that left me physically deteriorating and mentally broken. Despite being in excruciating pain from a torn subscapularis tendon, biceps subluxation, labral tears, and joint instability, Mr. Singh left me without a plan, ignored vital MRI evidence, and offered no pathway to healing.

When the NHS failed me, I had to fly to Lithuania and pay out of pocket for urgent diagnostic scans and ultimately life-changing shoulder surgery. I returned with full reports, hoping for post-operative support. Mr. Singh refused to acknowledge the surgery, dismissed my documents, and coldly told me to “go back to the people who operated on you.” No rehabilitation, no compassion, no duty of care — just arrogant indifference.

To make matters worse, I was humiliated during a pre-MRI injection procedure, left half-naked, freezing, and in pain while unprepared staff fumbled through a basic medical process. It was degrading and traumatic.

This ordeal has shattered my trust in the NHS. I live with ADHD, anxiety, and depression, and the total lack of support pushed me into a state of deep emotional distress. Mr. Singh’s behavior was not only unprofessional — it was inhumane. I was treated like a nuisance, not a patient.

I urge Bedford Hospital to investigate his conduct immediately. No one should have to go through this kind of systemic neglect and psychological harm.

All I can say is incredible. Mum ,at 88 has just had a mastectomy and from first finding lump to breast removal, the staff here have been Wonderful. Her stay in Tavistock ward was made so easy because of the outstanding care she received. This hospital is expertly run with the patients at the front of everything they do. Thank you bedford hospital. Just a quick add on,mum also stayed in orchard ward and again the level of care she received was second to none. The staff looked after her so well and whatever she needed they were there for her. Wonderful staff and trustworthy hospital.

“We’ll give you a blood transfusion if you’re still alive in the morning” “if you pass out we won’t bother to resuscitate you” are the words they’ve said to my Father, 58 with 6 kids, who has stage 4 bowel cancer. Instead of being compassionate and supportive They treat him so badly and act like he’s not human. What a shame! So insensitive, cold hearted and dismissive. The lack of respect snd humanity in his care is truly shameful. HEARTBREAKING. They’ve also said that they’re not going to treat the cancer and put him on an end of life plan to only treat his symptoms. my dad is really fit for his age even during this time so this is really off to me. God will avenge.

waiting in A&E for 6 hours so far after being in a motorcycle accident, i have been told i have a fractured ankle and torn ligaments yet all i have been given is a paracetamol and a long wait. my foot’s the size of rugby and i am in severe pain this hospital is a joke, feels as if i am being treated in a WW1 field hospital, at least they would’ve elevated my leg ! and even worse i have to wait 2 days for a surgery! the NHS is the biggest joke in this country treatment is horrible if they even bother.

Bedford south wing beeden house clinics where they deal with cardiac and urology patient's over several floors of the building not helped by lifts being out of action. medical staff are friendly and helpful but the odd jobs worth lurks at the reception desks who seems to think you'll go away if they act like a thick plank to your question of where a patient should be taken for assessment when booking in

Review of Bedford Hospital - A&E Visit (19/12/24)

I took my terminally ill sister, who is facing Stage 4 liver cancer, to Bedford Hospital A&E on the advice of our GP. Given her condition, we were relieved to find that we didn’t have to wait long for assistance.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly compassionate and attentive. Triage, blood tech, and Dr. Ejaz promptly assessed her condition. We were given a bed within 30-40 minutes, which was a great relief during such a stressful time. I want to express my gratitude specifically to Nurse Minu, Greg (the blood technician), Dr. Ejaz, and Nurse Hilda for their kindness and professionalism.

However, I do feel compelled to mention some areas for improvement. Some of the equipment appeared outdated and in disrepair, which hindered the staff's ability to work efficiently. Additionally, there was a noticeable lack of free water dispensers and coffee machines in the waiting area, with vending machines available at high prices instead.

My sincere request to the NHS is to consider funding the upkeep of such essential equipment and facilities. It would greatly enhance the experience for both patients and staff, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—providing quality care.

Thank you for listening, and I hope my feedback contributes to positive changes in the future.
