I stayed here for 5 weeks due to burn out. The staff were courteous and supportive throughout my stay. I was an informal patient and the location was perfect to convalesce and start to make solid foundations to rebuild my life. I appreciate all the help and support from all the support workers which at times have a very hard job in their hands with some very challenging service users. Thank you to all the staff that made my stay all that much easier with professionalism and respect.

I was in Sandford ward during 2020 , the longest stay was 3 months. I found it incredibly challenging but I worked as hard as I could to engage in help offered. The staff were great . It’s never great to be sectioned but honestly I feel like it was as good as it gets . Very grateful. Plus the views are amazing and that helped .

Cygnet Kewstoke, especially Knightstone Ward helped me immensely. The staff are well educated on mental health issues. This goes right from the Consultant, psychologists, support workers, the ward manager, the ward clerk, speciality doctor, occupational health, the receptionists and active life.
The understanding, support and competence is a whole other level.
Sure, it wasn't an easy ride but the staff were there all the way.
I finally got the help, support and therapy I've needed for such a long time.
I was very cynical about this hospital and believed I was there for them to just make a profit but the staff proved me wrong. They genuinely care.
If you ever get placed here, fear not. You can and will be supported.
Thank you Cygnet Kewstoke and Knightstone Ward for giving me a new lease of life and hope for the future. You are all amazing!

Disgracefull. I was patient here, no counselling. No gym avaliable. The quality care commission was informed of neglect and cruel behaviour after my dad came to take me out on visit.. he then knocked me out in middle ofa busy street lots of witnesses and I was taken back to the hospital no police were called after the attack the hospital lied and said the phone wouldn't work to call 999 on my behalf they left me in room calling buzzer for hours for help I was left with no phone no money and no contact with anyone for days until someone from Newcastle called the police on my behalf to help get my belongingsback from my father who was reason I was sectioned in first place. So should not have been. Allowed to visit take me out and assault me. The staff do not care they are only there to keep us sedated heavily but no actual mental health help. There was 60 year old woman with soiled knickers left to roam ward nobody assisted to help her work help her eat or attended to her like they would their own grandmother. I have a massive complaint with the hospital still ongoing for the treatment they gave me they left me calling buzzer for hours for help after the attack and ignored me it took someone else to call the hospital from Newcastle recording me asking for help that they panicked and came to see me but shouted in my face and told me they would not call police as i was under mental health act and not able to do so on own behalf which they should have done hours ago before someone from Newcastle contacted police for me. My clothes were stolen multiple times from patients and attacked daily on ward to get my stuff back which the ward officers should have don't fot us instead leaving us to fend for ourselves.. cruel place to spend 28 days in

I have yet to visit this facility but been trying to deal with a very ill relative. As you can image, this is a stressful enough time but made more so by the fact I cannot understand the Charge Nurse on the ward where he has been placed. I understand that the medical profession has staff from all over the globe but please please please have a person in charge who speaks clear English and can be readily understood. This person left a message on my answerphone, mumbling in a thick accent, couldn't understand more than one or two words - they may as well have been saying blah blah blah........!

If you get to go to this hospital....then it means you are lucky. Very lucky. Most fortunate.
Noone wants to be ill in life. Noones wants to be sectioned. Noones wants to be made to go for respite. I sure didnt..... But u know what..... Im glad i did.
Im lucky to be here. Im still here and probably only half way through my treatment.
The staff actually do care..at first you think some are abrupt... but they are very professional. Obviously masks and full covid battling ppc and ppe are paramount here but i swear down they are smiling underneath it all.
Not one case of covid..... Slam on some wood.
They have instant tests here and results are quicker than a pregnancy test.
Im feeling loads better already from my mental illness.
All the staff are awesome and i cannot recommend this place enuff.
Obviously its non of my business what their pay is but after everything i see and the abuse they have to go thru..... Still...... They are calm. They work as a team. They aint just here for a salary.... They are here because they like to see the end result. That patient thats recovered...... Thats why they are here.
The food is top notch seriously cannot reccoment this place enuff.
I cannot wait to be fully better xxxxxxx

Also it needs to be mentioned theres a very special member of staff that runs the gym here.
Omg this place isnt just about medication the gym facilities are 5*****. I have 121 sessions and all the equipment is fully cleaned and steamed and sprayed.
This woman aswell as all the other staff..... Cannot reccomend this place enuff really cant.

Its not just about the medication they put in so much more.
I came here broken.
Im guna leave here fixed and with support after. They aint just guna ditch me n leave me they will be here for me.
